Actor Puneet Vashistha has been roped in to play a psychotic doctor Raghavendra Singh in 'Shastri Sisters'.
He will be shown as a short-tempered guy who talks to his dead mother. He gets obsessed with Anu (Ishita Ganguly) and keeps her captive for a year in his house.
Puneet, who has been featuring in episodes of crime-based shows, is returning to daily soaps after four years. His last fiction outing was the historical show Jhansi Ki Rani. He says, "One tends to emulate a popular character while playing such intense roles. However, I chose to keep it original. This guy is twisted in the head and his decibels fluctuate with his emotions."
Playing an intense character could be emotionally exhausting. "It's true that such characters are impressionable and can have a lasting impact on your mind. But over the years, I have learnt how to cut off."
