Chapter Eight.
She peeped out in the roof top more than the darkness, the silence that screamed into her ears, made her shudder out of fear. The gentle breeze blew her strands, with all the gentleness they possessed. An unknown shiver ran down her spine. But leaving all the odd thoughts aside, she reminded herself about the motive that made her rush to the roof top. Nimish!
She looked around in the dark, the corners darker. But she couldn't trace him. Irony! She had to go all the way to his all-time-favourite place. And that meant she had to cross his territory. Feeling the churning sensation that took place in her stomach, she closed her eyes. She had to overcome all that she feared. She had to live a life, after all. And with that she took tiny steps towards the boundary. With each step, the next got heavier.
He stayed steady with all his pulses under his control - normal, calm, from the outer appearance but equally rushed, hyper, nervous as sudden thoughts popped into his head. He had his eyes closed, pretending to sleep. While his attention drifted to the tinkling anklets, her delicate skin against the breeze, Her flowing skirt. He could feel every bit of hers.
She looked across the boundary to find him lay on the mattress with innocence covered all over his face. Innocent? She for once thought as though she has lost her mind. Out of all the people, thinking of Manik as Innocent was a big time mistake.
Though her heart ached to have seen him peacefully lying there, She could still see his face in the darkness. Even while sleeping, he had something that made her feel the strong pull towards him.
Without giving a second thought she climbed the boundary with her fingers clutching the sides of her skirt. She didn't bother the piercing of her nails through the thick cloth, hurting her. But she didn't move her eyes off him. She just couldn't afford to. What if he woke up, all of a sudden? She wasn't ready to bear his eyes upon her.
While he felt her gaze, she tumbled as soon as she stepped into his territory. But the worse was, she landed in his bed - next to him. She froze as his arms encircled around her waist.
His eyes widened with amazement. Her eyebrows arched as her eyes went big and round. Her breath caught up in the wind pipe, as she felt his cold touch against her skin. She was warm and welcoming, in every manner. And he so knew it.
Not wanting to see him, her eyes went shut. Looking at her reactions, he couldn't help but start, "Nandini..." He cried into a whisper. These days every time he called out her name, it ended up into a mere whisper.
She tried to move away, not wanting to listen to him - his words had the pinch of emotions, these days. And she just wanted to run away from those. But he pulled her closer, "You are not moving, Anywhere." She still struggled against his grip. "I won't let you go, Nandini" His words had some underlying meaning to it. And with that she felt the urge to throw her arms around him. But she wasn't going weak. "Listen to me for once, and then the decision is yours."
She had already made up her mind and she wasn't going to change it at any cost. That was what she had planned. "Fine." She declared yet with irritation laced in her voice. Eyeing him, she made him realize their position And he got them straightened.
