"Where the mind is led forward by thee

Into ever-widening thought and action

Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake."

-Lines from "Where the mind is free"
by Rabindranath Tagore

Independence is the state of being free from outside control, to have sovereignty and liberty.

Everyone in this world having independence either at national level or personal level or even both is not necessary, but definitely is
a necessity
.

After the struggle of more than 200 years, India received its necessity, its freedom.

Thousands of movements and billions of sacrifices took place and finally on August 15, 1947 the British Government due to their inability to rule the country because of the damage during World War II, passed the Indian Independence Act which declared India a free, independent country.

Since that day, India has shown phenomenal growth industrially and economically. India today is the largest democracy and the seventh largest in area in the world with a population of
1.25 billion.

69 years it has been since India got its independence and even though it has adapted modernity, the culture and the love for the country remains the same in the hearts of its citizens across the globe.

Even today, Independence day continues to have utmost importance and is celebrated grandly every year with flag hoisting and kite flying. The day is also considered a national holiday as a tribute to all the leaders who fought for the country's freedom.

India will never forget the sacrifices made for the freedom that we enjoy today and shall always continue to celebrate its independence with pride and glory.

2015 marks the 69th year since we got the freedom to do what we wish to, to speak our minds, to take pride in the amazing history of our land and get inspired by our forefathers and ancestors who were brave enough to speak their minds and because of whom, today, we are able to reap the benefits of the seeds they had sown.

But how well do you know your history, boast of the fact that you too know your country and its rich culture ? We CCs challenge you to answer these questions listed below and prove your mettle to one and all😎

Q1- There was a Britisher who supported India's freedom struggle wholeheartedly. This person was also instrumental in creating a political organization in our country in support of the same. Who was she ?

Q2- 15th August also marks the independence of three other nations. Name them.

Q3- Who was the pioneer of our freedom struggle, who set the ball rolling that instilled the importance of freedom in the people of our country ?

Q4- The final act that tipped things in our favour. Which was the movement that achieved this dream of a billion ?

Q5- Hindi was not initially our national language. Which was it ?

Q6- What is the significance of kite flying (which has become a popular sport today)?

Q7- In 1857, there was a freedom movement that was a turning point in our struggle for freedom. What was it ?

Q8- There is a popular quote referred to, even today- 'Swaraj is my birthright, and I will have it!' Who said this ?

Know the answer to these questions ? Revisit your history and share your answers in the comments below⭐️
