Chapter 2

May be she is not that bad as I thought. So where I was yup straight ahead and here is the opening Manik was walking totally lost in his thoughts. He was about to walk out of the open end of the corridor that at that same moment someone called him from behind. "Mr. Malhotra!!" Manik turned to see who was calling him.

He saw a young guy about his age walk towards him. He was about an inch or 2 shorter then him and a slightly dark complection. "Hello sir where are you going?" that guy asked manik again.

"Sorry have we meet before."

"No sir you don't know me I am Dhruv vedand. I have been teaching here from the past 6 months."

"Hello Dhruv I am Ma..."

"Manik Malhotra na? The Gold medalist from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal in BS computer science I know you." After watching a confused look on Manik's face Dhruv showed Manik his teachers ID.

"O don't get confused yar I know you are new here. You did not reached the office and it's about 10 am so HOD asked me to find you and give you your ID and show you your cabin." Dhruv told manik with a smile on his face. Manik passed a smile back to Dhruv.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Dhruv."

"No I am just Dhruv for friends." And hugged manik. Manik was happy that at least from the start of his day in this institute someone is sensible here.

"So Manik by the way where were you going?"

"Aaa to the office"

"Ya but who told you that office is in that direction"

"Wo actually" Manik thought for a second and he don't know why he didn't told Dhruv about that girl instead he said "I was just checking around. But why?"

"Wao then my friend you are lucky that I found you because there is no office there but instead a large puddle of mud because of last night's rain." Dhruv said while smiling.

Manik looked out from the opening and thought my my what kind of girls is she. O God give me one chance I would not leave her. Manik was very angry on that girl. He was lost in his thoughts when Dhruv waved his hand in front of manik and said "O hello don't you want to see your office??"

"O yes yes show me the way." Dhruv lead him the way towards his office. It was quite a decent space for one person.

"So how did you liked it?" Dhruv asked Manik while show him his office.

"Cool yar it's great."

"Great na? And yup my office is next to yours so whenever you need any kind of help just come to me." Dhruv said with an assuring smile.

"Yup sure" Manik was feeling very relaxed now. Dhruv was sure a company that reminds him of his best friend Cabir. They were so alike in many ways.

"Aaa naviya you go I need to check something I will be back in five."

"But where are you going?"

"Ufff told you na coming just go it's 10:55 meet you in class at exactly 11 am."

"Ok but don't be late"

"Ok ok just go I am coming." Nandani don't know but during her lecture she was unable to concentrate on her lecture. She was constantly thinking about that guy. And how he would be looking totally filed in mud. She giggled on this thought.

But to her disappointment that mud puddle looked untouched. Maybe he is not that dumb as he looked like. Leave it Nandani it doesn't matter, whether he fell in the mud or not. You are thinking about him more then he deserve. So leave it. Hmmm it's about 11 am. Yup class. She shook away Manik's thought and went to attend her next class.

"So when is your first class?" Dhruv asked while helping manik to set his cabin. He was arranging books in the book rack.

"Hmm let me see." Manik pull out a piece of paper from his pocket and tried to find his class. "Hmmm it's in Lab 3 Databases BSCS 4^th semester 1 PM"

"Hmm I have taught data structures to this class in the last semester. The class is really nice you would love to teach them."

"Thanks Dhruv for all your help"

"Don't be a fool I told you na that we are friends so no thanks." Dhruv passed the most genuine smile towards manik. And Manik smiled back.

In a few mints Dhruv became a good friend. He told manik that he is a former student of this same department and just like manik he has passed his BS CS from this department in last year. Manik was happy to find a friend like Cabir in Dehli.

Naviya and nandani both were sitting in the cafeteria when at once naviya said "O God it's almost 1 PM. Yar get up get up it's time for your class."

"Naviya still 5 mints are remaining. What's the hurry?"

"O ok so all that first impression talk was nothing. Now get up." Naviya pushed her from the chair.

"Ok ok fine." Nandani got up with a lazy face.

"O don't be sad. If you want me then I would come with you too." Naviya asked with concern.

"No no it's ok. Today is just the first day would call you if I need you." Nandani relaxed naviya and went to attend the class.

"Ok bye would be waiting for you in the library" Naviya told nandani. Mandani waved her hand just to ensure her that she has heard what naviya has just said.

Now where are the first lecture's slides? Manik thought while finding the slides in his laptop. Aaa here they are.

Manik went towards the lab. Wooo ok manik gather all the confidence this is your first class so you would need it. While walking towards the class he saw that same girl from today was dragging her feet to go somewhere. Aaa that girl would not spare her this time.

"Hay you hello!" He called her. But as nandani saw her she tried to hide her face behind her bag and rushed towards the lab. Hmmm strange it seems like she is trying to hide from me but she found her escape in my class. I think now is the time manik don't spare her. A wicked voice in his mind told him and he smiled on his thought.

Nandani was standing in the door of the lab and tried to peep out to look is that guy is gone or not. But to her surprise he was standing in front of her.

"Ary ary w...why...why are you following me han??" Nandani said with trembling voice because his new teacher would be here any time soon and this guy can ruin her first impression. She tried to close the door in front of him.

Manik pushed the door from the outside with full of his strength and nandani tried to push the door from the inside. "What I am following you?? Ms. Right know you are standing in my class."

"Ok then bunk today's class but right now please just leave. Please it's a request." But were talking while pushing the door.

Manik instantly knew that she don't know him. He don't know why but he smiled to himself on her cuteness and said "But why do you want me to bunk my class today? What's in it for me?" Manik said in a playful voice.

At that exact moment nandani stopped pushing the door and manik almost fell on her. Nandani pushed him away and said "Ary you what do you think of yourself han. I know I was not been good to you earlier. But don't think that I can't do anything worse than that. OK?" Nandani said with full of anger. And mumbled to herself Some juniors'

"Excuse me? Juniors?" Manik thought now is the limit and said "Please get aside I would tell you who is the junior here"

Nandani again stopped him by starching her arm in front of him. "Ary I told you na go? Why can't you just understand Mr. Malhotra would be here anytime soon and I don't want to ruin my first impression in front him just because of you." She said in almost pleading voice.

"Ahm I am afraid that you have already ruined it." Manik said in a calm voice.

Nandani made a confused face and said "What do you mean?"

Manik didn't say anything and just showed her his teacher's ID after which she just stayed frozen on her place.

Manik smiled to himself after watching her reaction and said "Now would you please get aside I have a class to teach."

Nandani didn't say anything and stepped aside with that open mouth face.

"Hmmm thanks but first." Manik put his finger on her chin and closed her mouth. "Now come if you are my student and otherwise you may leave."

Nandani didn't know how to react she just nodded and followed him and take a seat in the end and Manik went and stand by the rostrum.

She looked towards the ceiling and said Ayiapa why me han? Why always me? Now what to do? Should I call naviya here? No no then to he would defiantly cut my marks. She was lost in her thoughts that manik bang the rostrum with board marker and said "Hello class my name is Manik Malhotra and would be teaching you this new subject."

"Hello sir!" all the student especially girls were very happy to have him as their teacher but only nandani was cursing her faith.

"So tell me all the students are from 4^th semester?" Manik asked.

"No sir!" The whole class shout at once.

"Ok the one who are from this class raise up your hands"

Everyone except 4 boys, nandani and one other girls didn't raised their hands.

"Ok raise your hands who are not from this class"

All the 4 boys and 1 girl raised their hands except who was lost in her thoughts.

Manik don't know why? But watching her lost in her thoughts tempted him to tease him to take his revenge.

He pointed towards her and said "You the one in pink." His voice bring her to reality and she said "Who sir? Me?"

"Of course you. Now tell me what is your name? Semester and CGPA?"

"S...si...sir my name is Nan...nan...Nandani murty. And I am in 8^th semester. And my CGPA is 2.99" she said in a confused voice.

Manik took the advantage of the situation and said "O wao so you in the most senior class. Which means you have already read this subject." Nandani nodded to his question.

"Great then Ms. Murty tell me. What is the abbreviation of SQL?"

At once nandani got confused and look towards the flour to hide her confusion. She just remembered Structured and Language but didn't remember what is meant by the middle Q.

"Ok leave it just tell me what is meant by database?"

That was it the frequency with which the questions were coming nandani got totally blank. She constantly look towards the flour and closed her eyes.

"Ok Ms. Murty at least tell me what is data? This is the most basic question if you are studying in BS CS"

But nandani was unable to utter a single word her mind was totally stuck and only one thing was spinning in her head. Now he won't spare me. Her eyes started feeling the heat within them.

"So as you see class Ms. Murty is the perfect example of which type of senior you should not be." The whole class started laughing. "And she..." He was about to say some more insulting sentences but at that exact moment nandani looked towards him. He don't know why but he felt that his heart got squeezed by someone when he saw her moist eyes. And he stopped insulting her at that exact moment.

"O...Ok now class let's start our today's lecture" With that manik started his lecture.

As soon as manik said that was it for today. Nandani left the class. Manik's eyes followed her till she went out of the door. Why I am feeling bad for her. I have done just the right thing. It's a teacher's duty to teach manners to his students. So leave it manik you have done a great job.
