This is a sacrifice of the first order. Priyanka Chopra is not pursuing her dream of reuniting with Salman Khan on screen.
The actress, who had been finalised for the lead role in YRF's Salman starrer Sultan, has decided that she'd rather revive her cousin Parineeti Chopra's career with the same film. With Salman in it, a hit is almost guaranteed.
So, our PeeCee advised Parineeti to have a word with YRF's head honcho Aditya Chopra. And guesswhat! Adi wants Parineeti in the film!!
No prizes for guessing that PeeCee too put in a good word for her darlin' sister.
On the other hand, Ali Abbas Zafar (of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan and Gunday fame) who will wield the megaphone for Sultan is a bit skeptical if Parineeti fits the bill. A final decision is expected in the next couple of days, but Parineeti is smiling from ear to ear. Sources close to the film reveal that Parineeti's inclusion in the film is now a mere formality.
Well, we welcome the return of this talented actress who warmed our hearts in Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, Ishaqzade and Hasee Toh Phasee (before she started being repetitive with her choice of roles and struck a rough patch).
And let's raise a toast to Priyanka's supreme sacrifice. For years now, we know, she has been wanting to give her right arm to work with Salman again. And why wasn't it happening? For those who've come in late, Bhai didn't want it! He was mighty miffed with his Mujhse Shaadi Karogi co-star for turning down his brother Sohail's offer to star in Main aur Mrs Khanna (2009). In his inimitable style he continued to ignore her for the longest time until she worked her way into his good books after befriending his lil' sister Arpita.
When contacted, YRF did not deny the story but simply said that 'we should wait for an official announcement'.
