MASAAN
Here is the trailer of director Neeraj Ghaywan's movie Masaan that won two awards at Cannes Film Festival this year. For the lovers of refined cinema, it's a must-watch.
Masaan' is set in Varanasi. It tells the story of a low caste boy (Vicky Kaushal) in love with a high caste girl (Shweta Tripathi). It tells the story of a girl (Richa Chadda) whose sexual encounter ends in a tragedy as she is caught in a sleazy racket and being held to ransom by the police and authority.
There's also a hapless father (Sanjay Mishra) with a fading morality, and a spirited child yearning for a family
Masaan' revolves around these several characters looking for an escape.
Talking about the film, director Neeraj Ghaywan said earlier, "It is about the people living in small towns in India and their attempt of escaping the conventional mindset, the rigid social structure."

Masaan' was received extremely well at the 68th Cannes Film Festival. After the screening, there was a non-stop five-minute long standing ovation by the audiences that moved both director Neeraj Ghaywan and actress Richa Chadda to tears.
The film won two awards at Cannes: FIPRESCI, International Jury of Film Critics prize and Promising Future prize in the Un Certain Regard section.
Masaan' will release on July 24.
