Arshics it was a nice epi bar the stones that fell on Mai. Highlight of the epi was the dialogues with Aswathama and Shiva and I would say both actors did extremely well. I feel today's epi should give Aswathama the answers to his questions.
He says his father cheated him when he gave Arjun the knowledge of the best shastras. He never asks himself why his father considered Arjun over and above him. What quality Arjun possessed which he didn't have
He says Duri didn't make him the leader of the army after his father's death. Again no introspection on why Duri didn't make him the leader. What did he lack
He says Krishna cursed him to live a terrible life. He didn't ask again why Krishna did that
He says Yudhi lied, again didn't ask what prompted Yudhi the man who never uttered a lie knowingly to lie, what were the action done by his own father ( ordering to surround and kill young Abhi) that resulted in that small aberration by Yudhi.
People are like that. We always love to find others faults. He did this to me. It happened because of her. That person is responsible, this person is responsible. Do we look inside, do we recognize our mistakes and make an attempt to correct them. Most people don't do. Now I will try to answer Aswathama's questions in the way I understood MB.
Arjun was shresta than Aswathama not because of his strength but because of his knowledge or shall I say spiritual knowledge. Arjun has done lot of mistakes in his life but he had always tried to correct them in his own way. Over and above he has concern, he has a conscience. Arjun is the one who asks Bhima to let go of Jayadrath because if he is killed his sister will become a widow. Arjun treats his cousin sister his own. When he goes for Jayadrath in the end it is not to prove his might, but it is to salvage his guilt that he was not there to protect his son. He is the one who is rattled with emotions when he knows he has to fight his great grandfather, teacher and cousins and sits tired telling he cant fight. In other words he knows the meaning of relations, have cultivated the right relations. They are people to put their life in the line of fire for his sake even without him asking. Look at the precap Charles is willing to give his strength to Rudra to fight Aswathama. That's the real strength, people who are there for you when you need them the most. But then you too have to be there for them when they need you the most. Ask yourself how many people will be there for you when you need help most. You will understand from answer your greatness.
Coming to Duri not making him leader. Answer is he didn't invoke trust. Duri didn't believe he could win the war for him. And of course Karna who has proven his mettle was available. Also Karna fought from front, what did Aswathama do when he was asked to fight the battle. Go in the darkness slaughter and put to fire sleeping soldiers and men. Is this the way the war should be fought, or is it the way of true warrior. He never trusted himself to fight the war from front.
Lie of Yudhi. Well what did they do to Abhi. Was it based on the rules of Dharma Yudh. After that brutal killing do they have any right to talk about Dharma and Adharma. Bad people play the dirty games with the assurance that good people will always suffer and when fed up good people retaliate these people suffer, but put the blame back on good people.
Last, but not least Krishna's curse. What does he expect after trying to kill the unborn child.
Every human beings condition is because of their action. The sin of Aswathama was so huge that he is even denied Moksha. Death atleast gives Moksha or paves way to Moksha. So if your life is going bad, look inward than outward for solution.
Now coming to Shiva's answers. Shiva clearly explained the difference between people doing treachery and honest people. I have always felt you can read the truth in a person's eyes than in his or her words. The voice, body language gives much more indication than the words spoken. Those feelings are over and above what is seen, what is heard, what is tasted or what is smelt. Our 5th sense the feelings are the ones that should never be ignored especially in a crunch situation. A person doing treachery can never face you eye to eye. If you do anything with guilt your eyes will wander. If your conscience is not clear your body will never stand strong. A person with clear conscience and have no guilt about his actions will always look straight, will speak with great confidence. Listen to your feelings something which is always called a weakness, but if you harness it right , it will become your biggest strength.
