Within the context of this serial, I admire the young Ravan's stance against animal-sacrifice and false saints. At the same time I am totally against the steps he is taking as an adult. The former was a hero, the latter a terrorist.
The problem here is that they are trying to merge the more noble Ravan from the Jain versions (and other versions) with the predominantly evil Ravan from Valmiki. The result is an inconsistent characterization. The narrative does not flow properly esp from the end of the teen Ravan to the adult Ravan. There is an abrupt jump and total change of character.
I agree with you that it is important to be able to differentiate between true and false, right and wrong. No doubt the serial has shortcomings and mistakes. That is why it is necessary to get educated in the history of the Ram-Ravan myths, the different versions, the ideologies etc etc to be able to make objective decisions about what to accept and what to question from the tv shows, movies and books on these myths. It is also very important to be able to consider different ideas and POVs instead of rejecting something outright simply because it does not agree with the ideas/beliefs that one is more comfortable with.
BTW I think you meant "terrorism and Taliban" not "terrorism and Afghanistan". 😆 Don't generalize the activities of Taliban group over the Afghan people. 😊
