Hi Guys,
I wanted to make a post about Rajat - Payal's darling brother today. I find him to be quite an enigma - I can't tell if he's meant to be grey or not.
At the beginning of the show they showed him to be a bit of a floater - he didn't like his insurance sales job and wanted to do a transport business/taxi service etc. I'm with him upto that part - sure there are countless times we get suckered into jobs that we don't really have a passion for/have much interest in but do so to make ends meet, take what ever is being offered etc.
With Rajat based on the discussion his parents had - he's been a bit of a floater - he wanted to play cricket professionally, then dropped out, then went for some other courses but that wasn't very fruitful either then the insurance job and now the transport thing.
To me that sounds like a floater - like he gets interested in something seeing the end results to be lucrative etc (i'm guessing) but then when he gets down to it - be it lack of motivation/laziness or realizing what he thought isn't how reality is for that particular job/field etc. It seems he also suffers from an inferiority complex - his baby sister is significantly more accomplished than him - since he's not sure of what he wants to do/what his direction is his insecurity feeds into his inferiority complex when compared to his sister.
My point of the post today is to generate some discussion about his character - it's actually refreshing to see a layered character as his - he is not uni-dimensional and just a sweet supportive son/husband/brother like wise he's not an out an out villan - finding ways to bring his sister down and things like that.
Is Rajat meant to be an antagonist? He clearly cares for his sister - he tried to find out about Dev's family but got beaten out of the neighborhood and the Mama told him to lay off with the investigations also. We see him caring for his sister but he also lets jealousy/insecurity get the better of him and he lashes out at her too.
Thoughts?
