Fast & Furious 7 broke all box office records for Hollywood releases by a distance as it took a an excellent opening of around 60% and held well through the day. The film was a full release at multiplexes while more single screens should be added today.
The first day figures may come in at around the 10 crore nett mark depending on the release of the Tamil and Telugu versions which are primarily single screen releases. Fast & Furious 7 had better collections than Roy at multiplexes all over the country which is the biggest Hindi opener this year
The film got the benefit of Mahavir Jayanti but still the collections are huge as its not a national holiday. The record for opening for a Hollywod release is 7.48 crore nett by The Amazing Spiderman 2 and even if Fast & Furious 7 falls a bit short of 10 crore nett, this record will easily be beaten.
Fast & Furious 7 has smashed all records for a Hollywood releases by a distance. The collections for the English and Hindi versions are around 10.5-11 cr nett and with Tamil and Telugu to come it should take it to the 12 crore nett mark.
The business is phenomenal all over with some circuits recording better figures than The Amazing Spiderman and The Amazing Spiderman 2 combined together which were the biggest openers before Fast & Furious 7. The business in Delhi/UP was around 2.25 crore nett which is comfortably more than Roy which is the biggest Hindi film opener.
The figures in Mumbai were better than Baby and Roy at around 3.50 crore nett. The film has a four day weekend and The Amazing Spiderman 2 which also had a four day weekend grossed 30.50 crore nett in four days and this will easily surpass that in three days.
Fast & Furious 7 shattered every initial box office record for Hollywood releases in India. It is basically what Dhoom 3 did as far as Hindi films are concerned. The film has collected a huge 48 crore nett over the four day weekend in all languages.
The previous records for Hollywood releases were 7.48 crore nett on day one by The Amazing Spiderman 2 (2014), Fast & Furious 7 went to 12 crore nett. The three day record was The Amazing Spiderman (2012) at 24.69 crore nett and Fast & Furious 7 went to 35 crore nett
The Amazing Spiderman 2 (2014) also had an extended four day weekend last year and grossed 30.37 crore nett and now Fast & Furious 7 has gone to 48 crore nett. The margin of all records is huge. The film is already the eighth highest grossing Hollywood release in India and the only films above it are the 50 crore nett plus grossers which is a benchmark for Hollywood films. Another record that is has surpassed is the lifetime business of Fast & Furious 6 in just four days, that film had grossed 43 crore nett approx in 2013.
