I don't deny that there is chauvinism in Telugu film industry..or for that matter in any film industry... but why is she talking about it now???? I have read her heap praise on Telugu heroes..she claimed to love working with Balayya..etc etc... why now? Maybe she thinks that her position as a side actress in bolly has been consolidated with the success of Badlapur and Hunterrr 303...so she doesn't need Telugu fil industry...btw she has acted in some Malayalam movies too..wonder if she will say something else after a few months...

Anyway I am not disputing what she said about Tollywood. It must have been true. But she should have taken a stand long back. Also, when she talks about the hero being treated like God in the movie... she had those dialogues. She should not have signed up for the movie if she was not comfortable mouthing those dialogues. Did she not read the script before signing the film?

But the question is.. can beggars choose? She was a struggler. Well, she still is a struggler but not of Tollywood anymore.

She was a struggler back then...she is still struggling to get roles in Hindi movies...but has got a modicum of success with Badlapur and Hunterrr..must have gotten into her head..must be thinking that she doesn't need tollywood anymore...she comes from a wealthy non-filmy background...so maybe that gives her some security to speak up

Sometimes it takes a lot of time to just decide if you want to stay silent or speak against any kind of discrimination. Especially when you are just at the starting point of your career and looking for stability. It might cost you your career.
Things are not always so straight and simple.

I don't really understand this point, "Why is she speaking now?". 😕 Why not? She is probably more stable and secure about her career atm, so she decided to share her thoughts. Honestly, I don't think she is lying.

But they would do that to young male actors too. And it is expected of female seniors too, if some young actor called a senior actress by her first name, it would be considered disrespectful as well.

Now, the fact that I guess all these male actors achieve greater seniority and stardom, while the female actresses have a shelf life makes the situation chauvinist, I would agree. Also that the male actors would have the big fan clubs and fans who in number would make noise and make a big issue while that doesn't exist for female actresses--that also makes the whole situation itself a male chauvinist situation.

But the act of expecting a suffix is not by itself indicative of sexism and male chauvinism. It's the surrounding factors and situation as a whole.

If you say, that colleagues of similar age and length in industry, where let's say Mahesh Babu, Arya, Prabhas can call Trisha, Samantha, Anushka, ileana etc by their names but they have to address the males as sir, I would say yes, that is indicative of male chauvinism. (Which by the way, I don't know. Is it the case? I have been away from S.I industries and even Bollywood for quite some time.)

Yes Samantha in her interview with Mahesh kept addressing him as "meeru" (meaning aap) and he kept addressing her as "nuvvu" (meaning tum)
As someone mentioned earlier, it was quite awkward to watch.

Aishwarya chose to spoke about abuse long after she had broken up with Salman. Till then she didnt even acknowledge her relationship with him. Why did she not choose to speak when she was with him and undergoing abuse? I am sure she had her reasons...and why she chose to speak when she did...also had valid reasons. I am sure similarly Radhika has her reasons.

Me being a south Indian, I will not hesitate to say that Tollywood is the shittiest in treatment of women's characters in the films.Heroine is given the least screen space and the male lead has all the cake for himself.
To top it all ,those utter rubbish punch dialogues delivered by the male leads make no sense at all.

Heroines are reduced to dance and sing. That's it.They hardly contribute to the story.

Off screen kajal aggraval was slapped many a times by a director for not giving proper performance. It really hurts.
