I do watch Telugu movies but don't have much idea about the way industry functions. I do know about the nepotism though, it is much worse than Bollywood. 👎🏼 Coming to the films, some of them are really regressive. Not all, but some. And watching such movies is so difficult. 🥱

In BW people get chances due to nepotism. In Tollywood actors inherit fans from father's. Generations stay loyal to same star family across generations.

Another example was Samantha who was bullied for not liking the poster of a Mahesh Babu film.
The way women are portrayed in most films is terrible. PD's films are a trailer of the same.

Oh yes, I remember. After that incident, Mahesh and Samantha came together for a charity event where she interviewed him and a director. It was so awkward to watch the whole thing. She was so intimidated and that director's attitude throughout was so so off-putting.

I think all the South Indian industries are male chauvinist, even if the degrees of chauvinism vary.

Imagine what happens in BW when a certain star's PR team send links of his/her latest image building exercise to big-wigs and small-fries through WhatsApp, and some small-fry chooses not to tweet supporting the star's cause.

There's more ugliness. I was once shocked to know that people over there select their favorite stars/politicians not by their action/merit but through their caste.

What happens if they don't tweet their support? 😳

Ileana said the same thing, but brought up wrong examples.

Used conflated example of respect to seniors and directors. Which while the chauvinism present overall also goes into it, by itself is not the example of chauvinism and should not have been used as the prime example.

But what she mentioned also holds importance. I remember once fans jumping at Nazriya for she called Vijay as Vijay..not Vijay "Sir". Actress can't have their views.
