23 August 2007 AFTER THE huge celebration party to announce the engagement of Tanisha and Uday in June, the couple has split. (Remember the big bash at the Chopras which was mistaken for the Rani —Aditya secrect wedding?
Tanisha Mukherjee and Uday Chopra got involved during the making of Neal N Nikki. The film flopped but their relationship became even stronger. Tanisha waited in vain for some good roles to come her way. Nothing happened.
When she finally analysed her career graph with sister Kajol she realised she should quit and settle down to marriage before she loses nice guy Uday. Kajol and Ajay were very fond of Uday and happy that Tanisha was happy with him.
Tanisha's debut film Sssshhh (2003) was a flop. Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao (2004) and Tango Charlie (2005) came and went. She got a small role in Sarkar where she hardly got noticed as it had the Big Bs in it. And her latest film Neal N Nikki (2005) was a disaster.
So at Abhishek's wedding (April) Tanisha and Uday decided to formalise their relationship and get engaged. It was a thritlled Kajol who announced this to the 'inner family' and told them all to keep it a secret. The kids spoke to their respective families. All were thrilled and a date was set for announcing the engagement in June.
By now, Tanisha had totally given up on her film career and this realisation was the saddest time of her life. She had waited for some good roles for two years.
Kajol and Tanisha have been brought up by Tanuja as free souls. Tanuja believed that kids should grow up normally and there should be no restrictions. Suddenly Tanisha found herself suffocated in this relationship. Uday is a fun loving guy, not really interested in his career (he can afford not to be, he's one of the heirs to the Yashraj empire). Uday wanted to spend all his free time with his girlfriend. Tanisha needed her space. She was still looking for good roles to come her way. Uday did not want her to go after a career. He did not see the point. Trouble was brewing in their relationship —till Tanisha got her break with two films. Kumar Mangat's 123 and Ram Gopal Verma's Sarkar Raj, this time opposite Abhishek. Suddenly Tanisha's luck changed. She was being offered good roles. She had waited over two years for this dream. She decided to take up all the good roles coming her way.
This caused havoc in their relationship. Uday was displeased. He was planning a wedding. He did not want a working wife. The fights reached such a peek that Tanisha decided to call off the relationship. She discussed this with her sister and mother and informed them that this is her dream and she intends to follow it. Having been strong headed all her life, they had no choice but to agree.
