Bhula dena mujhe, hai alvida tujhe...tujhe jeena hai, mere bina...
That song from Aashiqui 2 rang in my head when they showed the flashbacks of Rishi committing suicide whilst Sneha was telling their daughters the bad news...Too much to take in as a viewer with just so many questions roaming at the back of my head.
Why'd he do it?
Was that the only option?
The father who loves his family, dotes on his daughters, why did he take such a cowardly step? He knew exactly what the repercussions would be of him killing himself- the troubles wouldn't end right there. His family would have to suffer the consequences...If he had not killed himself, his wealth, his lifestyle, his reputation would have all changed but at the end of the day he would still had his family by his side. I just can't seem to understand why he wouldn't want to face his family... yeah they wouldn't be the 'Mathur's without that wealth and the stigma of being frauds, but that's something they could have worked on as a family.
So was suicide a cowardly step? Yes. However I can understand why he thought ending his life would be better than facing his loving family. The guilt was killing him internally. He put a strong face on externally. It just doesn't justify it enough though. I don't think anything can seeing the loving father he was portrayed as. He was known as Superman- He just didn't live up to the title unfortunately with the move he played.
In some corner of my heart, I was really hoping we wouldn't see his dead body, that way it would give me hope that he just disappeared somewhere and would show up sometime later after the family was settled in their new conditions and would face them then...cause I just can't believe as a strong character he would pull such a move...but I guess the writers had something else planned.
The scene got me though- when he did the Superman pose and decided to jump. Heartwrenching. My mom had to ask me if I was crying, which I wasn't..lol, I just teared up, cause I'm gonna miss the dad. His relationship with his daughters was wonderfully portrayed and so short lived.
Going to miss Sachin Tyagi portraying the dad nonetheless. He was doing such a stupendous job with the role and deserved the appreciation. I do hope we get flashbacks or something of the sort throughout the story as we never got to see Sneha and Rishi's struggles, growing up as parents with the kids, etc.
PS: I have to mention how amazing Gautami was today!👏 Such a power packed performance.
