Let NH10 get the similar opening as that of Badlapur. Then we will discuss about the remuneration issues.

Badlapur opening was not just because of Varun. The promos looked good, the music was popular and Nawaz has a lot of credibility (plus Sriram Raghavan).

And Dirty Picture got a bigger opening. MBKD got a bigger opening and let's not try to pretend that that was because of Imran Khan. It was all Katrina. Actresses like DP, Kat have much more b.o. pull than a Varun, they just never get the credit for it.

Parineeti was the only known face in SDR, why doesn't she get the credit for its success?

I think the salary should be proportional to screen space and star power. If you are working hard and pulling audiences then no way in hell should you be paid less based on gender!

On which basis an actress should be paid equal to an actor if she's got a flower pot role with no significance!

She actually talked about this in the last half of February already in relation to questions about Virat and is going off of the same idea in this interview/with the women's day tweets. So while she is milking the women-oriented card for her movie, it's definitely not momentary, about Ranbir/Katrina or this equal pay thing only and has some backstory. She's just changed the names...perhaps to avoid bringing up discussion about Virat herself.

(Video summary for those who can't watch: they asked her if she had been doing pooja for Virat in some pictures that she was spotted in. She replied saying no and that it's hilarious + unfair that journalists ask her about doing poojas while she's promoting her upcoming film but he's asked about his form or strategy for any upcoming match, thus the difference is professionalism...I don't think she meant male vs. female only but also actors vs. other professions too.)

The point of Varun earning same or similar to an A list heroine is sad but true.

Whether NH10 works or not nobody can deny that she has taken a risk...sometimes they pay off and sometimes they dont. She has obviously given it her 100% by putting her money where her mouth is.
If Nh10 doesnt work i dont think she will lose anything but next time it will just be that much harder for a different film to be made so we the audience shud encourage such films.

Agree. The world is much more than those two so she should definitely expand her mind space and stop with the overdone/unnecessary mentions.
