CAn someone please explain to me how the GSCE Examinations are graded? And what percentage you need to get a certain grade? I urgently need this!!!

Dont the grade boundaries change every year? According to what % of students have got above or below a certain mark??

The boundaries also vary for different exams obviously... and i think for AQA French, the boundary remains pretty much the same. It's marked out of 360 including all four parts of the exam and i think 320 is an A*

Also for separate sciences the boundaries are much higher than for double award.

Im doing GSCE right now... So here is the marking scheme..

They mark u on your material and your writing style and what examples you present to explain ur answers. To get the marking scheme of each subject seprately please go to the following site:

www.cie.org.uk

For most, nearly all actually, leaving out some rare ones, here are the grades they give:

90% and above - A
80% and Above - B
70% and Above - C
60% and above - D
50% and Above - E
Below 50% and for some subjects 40% - U dat is fail or ungraded.

No way! Pooja, those are such high grade boundaries! I'm sure most exams have much lower ones.. 😕

My friend took her History gcse last yr and found out that she got something like 69% and still got an A!

^^ I sorta agree with bollycrazy! Missy, the grade boundaries varies from subject to subject and year to year. the examination board decides on the grade boundaries after you've finish stting the exam. for example if in a science exam all students received less the 70% as the exam was really hard. Then the grade boundaries go down, so the grade boundaries are only known tocertain examination board members! -- Source: my cousin!

I have been trying to get my parents to understand it all and they are not really getting it.

Has anybody sat the Maths extended version of the exams?? If so, ca nyou tell me the differece between the core Maths and the Extended maths exam??
