Freida Pinto teams up with Hollywood Legend Meryl Streep to spearhead a Campaign named " India's Daughter" to fight against gender inequality and violence against women which is particularly prevalent in India.

A Documentary with the same name will be launched on International Women's Day next Sunday. On 9th March, Freida Pinto and Meryl Streep will attend a screening in New York, launching a worldwide India's Daughter campaign against sexual violence against women and girls in India

India's Daughter, made by British Director Leslee Udwin, tells the story of the brutal gang rape and murder of Jyoti Singh(Nirbhaya), 23, in Delhi in December 2012. Ms. Leslee who spend over four months in India filming this documentary reveals that Indian Men's brutal attitude toward woman Completely shocked her.

Mukesh Singh one of the convicts in Nirbhaya's Gangrape who was interviewed for this documentary says: "You can't clap with one hand - it takes two hands. A decent girl won't roam around at night. A girl is more responsible for rape than a boy ... about 20% of girls are good." Jyoti fought back. Singh says: "She should just be silent and allow the rape. Then they would have dropped her off after doing her' and only hit the boy.

"The 15 or 20 minutes of the incident, I was driving the bus. The girl was screaming, Help me, help me.' The juvenile put his hand in her and pulled out something. It was her intestines ...We dragged her to the front of the bus and threw her out."

One of the Indian Lawyers who speaks in this documentary says: " "The moment she came out of her house with a boy ... she left her morality in the house. "

PS: Don't you this these kind of monsters deserve to be hanged??

Governments need to reform their teachers' training colleges. Teachers are the only hope now to help kids grow up as a human being.

This is no campaign...Sounds more like a start to the promotion for their documentary!!
Freida Pinto just being used to give it an 'Indian' face.

Indians, including women at large, still believe rape cases are fake and good girls don't get raped. O ly bad girls get raped or they are s**ts who later cry rape. Blame dress, being outside, being online or using mobile, getting educated etc. Anything but the rapists themselves. They will even blame rapist's wife for not satisfying him or mother for not teaching him anything. But no responsibility of men themselves!

Anytime a news on rape is put up you can see misogynist comments pouring en masse.

Digusting to say the least. 😡

The bit about Nirbhaya's incident...just the immense cruelty of it is still so shocking for me. And despite all that, they still partially blame her? Disgusting

And it is a fact, many safety guides state that if trapped by men, the woman should not fight. She should hold her tongue within her clenched teeth and endure the rape. After they are done, they will let her go. "Better to follow this step than get further brutalised or murdered". 🤢

A lady politician had said that if Jyoti had begged to be spared then they would not have taken her intestines out.

What can we do then if women themselves bark like this?

I guess at this rate people will have to give poison packed in pouches to their daughters so that they can eat it when about to get raped. In past parents used to give such stuff to girls so that they better died than lose their "izzat". Millions of girls committed suicide like this to resist rape back then. Guess we want to return to medieval ages!

I don't think its just specific to india ... its true everywhere ... everywhere ... i spent a fair bit of time in the US studying ... the rape culture in the urban educated college going well to do youth would chill you ...

On the other note, i particularly like this new trend of blaming mothers for raising monsters ... no responsibility of the father/school/society/friends ... its always the woman to blame, no matter what her role is

In saudi gang rape were a woman was 14 times gangraped by 7 individual. Punished the women by lashing her coz she was with a man who was not related to her. The same guys roam near her house n she can't do anything.
