Can I tell you that I love every single word in this chapter? I am an impatient reader and always in a hurry to get to the point (maybe a multitasking mommy thing not sure) but today I was savouring each and every single word. They all meant something by themselves but when you put it all together like you did, it is poetry in motion. I get why it is important to slow the pace down now so we get an appreciation of each emotion and moment. They are all different as in she can be brave, fighting her tears, feeling tired, trying to go back in time with Arnav, with NK, being a mom, a widow, a person trying to come out of her grief, and the list goes on, this is not your run of the mills romance story, this is as real as it gets and I am sure this has happened to someone close as you know exactly what to say and when to say it. His musing as a father about his Mohan and the little girl in front of him was very poignant. I think as parents, we do this (comparing the kids reactions) many times as there really is no manual that tells you if everything is ok and specially in his case, autism is even harder to deal with. I love his ability to be able to see hope in everything and resilience and determination in fighting for her this time. He is not going to waste his second chance and is going to break through her wall no matter how long it takes.
She is trying to ignore his persistence with he is just a friend but I think at the end when she cried, it may just be that she has found that strong shoulder to lean on, to let the tears flow and let it all out of herself. The other 3 in that household can see how brave she has been and Buaji thanking Arnav for everything probably includes the thanks for being there for Kushi more than anything else. You talk about the resiliency of children and Meera is to be admired. That title girl is so brave and she is also afraid that her newfound friend may leave, hence her running to the door as soon as they got back. That little apprehension will stay for a while as her Daddy went away and did not come back. I love his promise to her about the play date and lunch. He is reiterating that they will be seeing each other and he will be there for her.I can probably go on for a while because I really, really love this update and this Arnav but I got to go wake up my little one for soccer now . . .can't wait to read more of a little girl's exploration of India as I am sure it will be magical.
