Hey guys,
So I have been watching humsafars on and off since the beginning so I have not watched every episode. From the episodes I have watched, I have formed very strong opinions about some characters and I would like to express those opinions. Again I repeate, I would like to express my OPINIONS. I apologize in advance if someone gets offended. My opinions are strictly about the fictional characters, who are a part of the fictional show Humsafars. Nothing I say, unless I am mentioning their acting, reflects my opinion on the actors playing these characters.
To be safe, I will start with Zaki, and move on from there. Each character will probably have a paragraph or maybe 2 at most. I am afraid Sahir has like 3 or 4 and if you're a very big Sahir fan, I would advise against reading them.
I am hoping I won't receive any hateful comments because of this. Again, they are my OPINIONS that I wanted to share with all and I am more than happy to discuss some of my points with you. Be courteous of the people you argue/discuss with.
I thank you all for reading this. Here goes nothing.
Zaki
What do I say about Zaki? I have a soft corner for him as he reminds me of a friend I had. It was years ago, and even though he looked nothing like the actor, his personality was the same. I have read a lot of hatred on Zaki, and even though I don't think he deserves Arzoo, I don't think he's half as bad as people are trying to make him. Only because he seems to have gotten the center stage right now and Sahir is on the sidelines doesn't make Zake a bad person. I didn't like that he spent the night on Arzoo's bed. He could've sat on the chair with her still holding his hand and that would've made sense. Also what goes through a rape victim or an almost rape victims mind is not something you and I know, but that particular victim knows. Maybe she needed comfort of another person so she reached for his hand and held it. That still does not excuse people actually letting Zaki fall asleep beside here but whatever about that.
As for Zaki's confession, I don't see that as disgusting at all. I find it refreshing actually that he would say it the way he said it. Usually guys in this situation give their shoulder to cry on, treat the girls as an "older brother" and then get offended when she falls for another. Well he manned up and said that "hey I am your friend and I will always be, but know that I love you and I want to marry you someday. Don't just friendzone me." Talking to Nausheen and repeatedly asking Arzoo to marry him on the other hand was dumb. And Arzoo should not lead him on. The more she doesn't answer, the more his hope will rise and when he is finally disappointed, he might turn into another Sahir. (rolls eyes. You'll understand the reference later) Overall though, his character is not that bad. Is he a moocher? Yes he is. Is he kinda clingy? Yes he is. Is he sincere? Yes he is. Does he love Arzoo? Yes he does.
Arzoo
Arzoo Arzoo Aarzoo, you gotta open yourself up to your family and now strangers, no matter how "close" you think you are to them. She has got to confide in her family instead of putting on the "I am superior to you all" persona. Her not letting Zara talk, to THEIR mom was unforgivable. Nausheen is Zara's mom as much as hers. Her pride always always puts forth it's ugly head when she's about to do something stupid. She's flawed, very flawed, but not damaged. If she lets herself be a little vulnerable in front of her family, then the Chaudharys could not have hurt her that badly. But she decided to trust strangers instead of her own family and we all know how that turned out. Also, the pride is very misplaced. How about not really arguing with anyone, but finding a different job. She's had experience now with Saiyarra, so her resume probably looks pretty good. Get a job, and start working. Get enough money to move to a different place. Alvira's friendship with Nausheen can go to hell at that point. Be friends, from a distance.
I don't really have more to say about Arzoo but how she is supposed to be this strong and independent person whose pride and self-respect fuels her strength. Well I don't see even a glimpse of the pride anymore. She's not even trying to not be there anymore. Just being bitter and angry with Sahir does not show that she's making any progress. I know it hasn't been that long but her reaction to things pisses me off.
Sahir
Please don't hate me.
Sahir is in the true sense damaged. Human beings are flawed, extremely flawed. However, being damaged is on a whole new level. If he had not been introduced to us as the lead character, he possesses all the characteristics of a sociopath criminal. He's a very tortured, depressed, guy who is hell bent of achieving some kind of goal that makes his destroy anything and anyone on his path even if he might love them in his own twisted way. Is that not the epitome of the bad guy? "But he's so tortured, munni" you might say. "He's seen so much pain and is just trying to prove himself." Well yea? Tough. He must be extremely weak then, mentally and emotionally, to go from the Shayari karne wala smiling Sahir to this hollow shell of a man who cannot see anything but what he wants to achieve. We as audience apparently love the bad guy a**hole lead as proven by R.K from Madhubala (God I hated his guts).
Like I said, if we hadn't been told that Sahir is the lead. This is a SaAz story then we'd probably have changed our mind about certain things about him. Instead we have idolized him to the point where instead of getting mad at him, we are "Aww Sahir" and "Poor Sahir" and start victim blaming instead of supporting the people Sahir has hurt with his actions, like Arzoo and Zaki. Even after everything, I continue to hear people bashing everyone but Sahir and that to me is not fair. Look past Harshad Chopra and understand the weak hollow shell that is Sahir. He is like wildfire that will burn anything and everything on his way to his own destruction. In theory that might be passionate and romantic, but the destruction is inevitable and irreversible.
His character is complex, Harsha's acting awesome, and there are so many different ways this character can go. I am curious to know what the past was that made him into this. No matter how I see it, Sahir is weak, very very weak to have become THIS. He, to me, is damaged to the point where he is beyond healing.
If you actually read the whole thing, thank you. Sorry if I said anything to offend anyone. I don't like the way the show has been shaping up, or the characters. Honestly I don't even watch the whole episodes anymore and just kinda skip around to catch the basic gist. I miss Kurti Aappa. I don't know the actress's name but she makes this show bearable to watch. She's annoying but entertaining and at least accepts the fact that she is not a good person unlike literally everyone else in this show. Everyone is flawed and selfish but act all high and mighty. Well bull to that.
I'm going back to school next week so I won't be able to watch regularly anymore. I just wanted to get all this out of my system while I still had time to discuss with people. Lol
Oh and here's an article by Elite Daily. I figured you guys might like to read. It basically describes Arzoo and Sahir's relationship.
