* SRK started training for his role for the coach with India Women's Hockey Coach. He read and learnt about hockey and understood the commands of the whistles in order to get into the character.
* The Hockey stick that SRK uses in the film belongs to the director Shimit Amin. When Shimit Amin first read the script he went out and bought a hockey stick to study it and during the course of the film SRK adopted the stick to be his own. And we see it in posters and in the film.
* The opening scene of the film required SRK to fall during a speedy hockey sequence. Seeing how crucial the scene was SRK decided to do the stunt himself. Being shot on a Hockey stadium it gave no scope for any harnesses or any mat, however SRK still insisted on doing the shot himself. Due to the multiple camera coverage and continuity he had to perform the stunt 8 times which he did with exact continuity and the shot remains in the film.
* 'Chak de! India' is the first film in which SRK has ever sported a beard through out the film. The beard visible in the film is grown over a period of ten days. SRK had three different schedules during the film.
* He would take ten days to grow out the beard. At the end of the schedule he would shave it. Shoot the commercials he was signed up for and begin the growing process again. This way he shaved and grew the beard three times for the film.
* Shimit Amin is American and has picked up Hindi during the course of this film!
