Whenever The Lips Met...

Part-5:

The man with a hand bag straightened himself and suddenly sat on the floor unexpectedly.

He slowly, but carefully put the bag down near him.

"My sister's," he informed voluntarily.

He saw the knife in the boy's hand.

"Oh, I thought you were going to jump!"

The boy could not threaten the man for interfering them, for he did not and he could not start arguing with his mother about his reasoning with suicide in the presence of a leisurely sitting-

He could not find a word there suitably to finish.

He took his mother's hand firmly, who was still crying weakly.

"That's the spirit!"

The boy heard him say.

"Rockey-" his mother started again.

"Do I look like a fool here?" the man asked them hotly then.

They eyed him in confusion.

"Everybody around is waiting to witness a suicide and a murder. You people are still wasting their time in argument," He accused them.

"Come on! It took me a five minute time to reach here, but I don't think it'll take that much time to reach down this way," He motioned towards the railing and detailed them.

The unwavering boy turned toward the railing.

"Mother!" The man called out, "What's his name? Rockey? Oh, whatever! See boy. You won't change your mind at this point at any case, right?"

Rakesh turned vigorously toward him who seemed thinking as though he was playing there. He wanted to kill him first, before his-

His gaze moved toward his mother.

'Who will kill oneself happily?'

He opened his mouth, but the man again started speaking.

"Tell me you won't, I just don't like confusions while one is going to kill himself and trying to kill the mother as well!"

It was excruciating to hear him say it.

"You, don't try to stop us," the boy had a chance to threaten him at last.

"Oh, why should I, boy? Even when you don't jump, I'll-" he took the hand bag and opened it.

He showed something heavy covered with a black plastic wrapper and said, "I'll use this stone then!"

The duo standing near the railing looked him as though he was insane.

"Yeh, No! Not to kill you. I'll throw this down-" he put the stone back in the bag and closed it, "It'll hit someone down standing there-" he threw the bag toward them. They moved away in reflex.

"And you people will go to jail for..." the bag crossed them and changed course,"...Murder for at least fourteen years!"

The boy peered out in terror above the railing as the bag was slowly going down towards the crowd, which was appearing as though minions from there.

The depth was much deeper than he expected.

When the mother tried to see over the railing he clutched her hand firmly and warned, "Ma, don't!"

He pulled her away from the railing.

The man was talking, "I don't think she will make it through until then!"

The boy thought he had not done anything for her yet in life.

"Do you have anything worth than the house?"

He inquired them.

The mother shook her head as the boy nodded slowly.

"My mother!"

He squeezed her hand reassuringly.

He threw the knife away yet again and moved toward the man.

"Give me a hand," the man extended a hand toward him.

He got to his feet as the boy helped him with a smile.

"Thanks!"

"Right," he draped an arm around the boy and asked, "Can I get some water, please?"

"You can get a cup of coffee, my mother is an expert in coffee," the boy smiled at his mother.

"But I prefer tea to coffee!"

They reached the locked elevator.

"Then she is an expert in tea too,"

The boy said and laughed cheerfully.

Suddenly he asked, "Oh,What about the stone?"

#

We opened the net and stood ready.

I said, "Careful! Now, they will jump at any- Ouch!"

Something hit me on the head and fell on the net.

"Oh, it's my hand bag!" Ayesha came forward and took it in hand.

She opened it and found it was empty except for her lunch box stuffed partially in a plastic cover. When she removed the cover it tore as my heart did.

I went to an immediate flash back then.

#

"Shree, I need a plastic cover in black!"

"Sir, how about this one?"

I toppled my precious microchip- box from it and extended it to him.

"I think it's too small. But it's ok!"

He accepted it half heartedly.

I put the bare box in the drawer and closed it heavy heartedly.

I'm keeping the cover for years now. The box fits in it perfectly!'

"Shree!"

My thoughts were interrupted and I ran behind him, "Coming, sir!"

Whenever The Lips Met...

Part-6:

He was in his room as Ayesha entered in.

His mobile buzzed. He excused himself and motioned her to sit.

He saw the number and answered at once.

"Yes!"

"When our eyes met

The love said, 'Nice set!'..."

Ayesha looked at him as she could hear that someone was singing on the other end.

"...Whenever the lips met

The love said, 'Keep' em wet!'..."

He whispered, "My informer!"

She stood up and signaled him that she would come later and left the room quietly and quickly.

"Hug me if you wish...

Tease me if you want...

I'm all yours..."

It was going way too long.

"Stop it, if you please or shall I?..."

He asked impatiently.

"Wait, I'm coming there now," she said hastily, "All right! I don't know much about the situation this time."

"Tell me!"

"There is a rumor that someone is going to kidnap the commissioner's daughter!"

"A rumor?"

He mocked.

"That's right!"

She said seriously.

"When?" the derision was still in his voice.

"Perhaps by now!"

She cut the call then.

This is too much!', he thought.

Now he had to face another issue that might be spread by Ayesha, if he was not mistaken.

#

Ayesha came out of the room with a big mischievous smile on her face.

She went to the computer room in search of us.

Once found that the cubicle was empty except the monitors, she moved toward the conference room.

I was downloading the latest (VERY) songs of the yet- to- come movies, secretly.

I was going to play them for Chottu and Ayesha, but not before I finished the other two albums, I found in this site.

Ayesha rushed in like a gale.

She could not see Chottu there, for he was in the other room doing something, I wondered perhaps secretly.

She shouted, "Shree!"

I jumped at her voice and snapped the lid of the lap-top down in reflex.

"Oh nothing!"

I started blabbering at once.

"Shree?..." she started digging and forgetting her news a moment.

"Very well! I was just downloading some songs. That's all!"

I confessed as Chottu entered in as he heard our voices inside.

"Ask him too what he was doing secretly?"

I tried to lift the siege.

Chottu blinked and said, "Why, I was in the Men's room!" he touched his hair.

He asked in surprise and looked me questioningly. I grinned and said," Out!"

I raised my hands to say 'surrender', "Right guys! Actually I found this new site which is providing secretly the albums even before they are released. I've downloaded some songs and you can hear them now, if you want!"

I invited them.

At that Ayesha remembered the news she wanted to share with us, before she could start,

"How is my new hair style, by the way?"- Chottu cut in.

Ayesha said, "Not bad!"

"I don't see any change in it," I shrugged.

Ayesha said cheerfully, "Hey, you know! Arjun sir has an informer who sings sweetly, while giving him tips!"

"What?" we both asked in unison.

She explained the scene to us.

"No. I won't believe that he got a girl friend!"

"Who told you, he got one?"

"You!"

Once she got where she wanted us she started, "Right, then it's a bet! You say, she is his girl friend. I deny that she is not!"

"----"

"Chottu, you?"

"----"

"What?"

She asked finally.

"We all say that it's not his girlfriend!"

We said in unison and we all laughed.

#

He opened his door as he thought, 'Commissioner has only one son!'

He came out of the room and heard the laughter.

He moved toward the conference room.

#

We swarmed around my laptop and I was about to play the songs for them when we heard, "Shree!"

"Oh, I- Nothing!" we all started blabbering at once.

Arjun entered in as we rushed to our seats.

I closed the laptop yet again.

"What's going on Shree?"

He turned to me since Ayesha avoided his eyes and was looking down as a proof that she had done something against him.

"Nothing that you can't find about, sir," I said the truth boldly.

"Sir, any new case?" I asked as mentioning his mobile in sign.

He was surprised at my quip, for he did not expect I'd ask the question this early. He got that everybody knew about his singing informer.

He could not tell us that his precious informer gave him false information at last.

Hence, he decided to use my previous phrase," Nothing that you can't find about, Shree,"

He too said it boldly.

We both smiled at each other knowingly as his mobile buzzed at once.

But once he saw the number of the caller, his smile faded unknowingly.

He moved to a corner.

He said, "Sir!"

"----"

"What?"

"----"

"We are coming!"

He cut the call and turned to us.

"Commissioner's daughter's been kidnapped!"

Whenever The Lips Met...

"Commissioner's daughter's been kidnapped!" Arjun said.
Part-7:

Before we could raise our eyebrows, he continued hastily.

"It's his first wife's daughter, who was living with her grands."

#

The commissioner was talking in a low voice, "When she was four years, her mother died of an unknown fever. I was behind a criminal then. I had to go to A.P. There we sifted every village for him. That was when I heard the news that she was ill and was in her parents' house.

"I thought it would be safe for her there when I was away. I couldn't contact her much, since I was in the middle of the mission. When I thought, I was reaching him; I heard that her condition was getting worse. I couldn't decide between the two issues.

"Finally, I decided to go to see her. But that evening I got a tip that he was going to come out. I decided fast, one day, only one day I would stay and try to nab him. I thought I knew that she would wait for me and if she saw me once she would be all right that our separation was the reason for her illness. I thought I would reassure her that I was ok, once I completed the mission successfully.

"I started planning for the arrest and sent her a message that said I would start from there the next day. That was the last message she received from me.

"The next day when I arrested him, came the news that I had lost her forever," he stopped a moment to take a sigh and continued.

"I couldn't do anything with the child alone. I refused to give her to her grands, for I was already feeling guilty about her mother's death.

"I knew she would forgive me, but I didn't know her daughter would not. I arranged a maid for her; soon I had to realize that maids are just maids. Then I decided to remarry. And she came," he motioned towards his wife who came in and put a tray on the teapoy with a weak smile.

"I thought everything would be all right as time passed. But I was wrong, nothing changed. My daughter started opposing my wife, much less to accept her as a mother. We tried but in vain. I couldn't convince her that she was for her. I was compelled to leave her with her grands at last.

"She started refusing me financially too as she grew up. She is twenty now and is working part-time as studying her Viscom course."

"Thanks ma'am," I (Shree) was connecting their phone to the machine when she gave me the cup.

The commissioner went on, "Suddenly she called me and said she wanted to meet me and she was on her way here when I came to know about the kidnap," he sighed, " He said, he would call me later for the demands!"

"Demands? Not the ransom?"

"No, he said demands!"

Arjun's face showed a worried mark then.

"Her grants are coming here now, once heard the news. I don't know why I should be the reason for their loss every time..." his voice broke down.

I looked up from my place as Chottu did.

Ayesha went inside to console Mrs. Utham Jai singh.

"Sir!-" Arjun started saying something, but he could not find words then.

"She never did understand me in her life. I don't know if I'll loss her too..."

He lowered his gaze and tried hard to blink back the tears helplessly.

Arjun put a hand on his and squeezed it reassuringly.

But he too did not know the case still well!

Whenever The Lips Met...

Part-8:

She had last her mother.

It took her a year to understand the full meaning of it.

She had to admit the truth at last that her mother would not come to console her ever, even when she cried at the top of her lungs.

She had to cling to her father, who was not smiling, but took her in his arms anytime she wanted.

But soon, she was taken by another mother-No, she was not her mother, she could say.

She started crying for her father, every time this new mother touched her.

She refused food, if the new mother was to give it to her. She had to make her father understand the truth that she did not want a mother, if it was not 'her mother'.

She insisted her father that this woman should not enter into their room.

She would not leave her father, once he entered into the house, she made that point clear.

She would skip the food if he tried to convince her.

She wanted her single parent to visit her school every month at parents' meet, which was still a mere greed in her case.

She did not like friends, for they had mother and father both and who came to school with pleasant faces.

Her tearful story continued till she went to visit her grants that vacation.

She always loved them; they would not let her alone or in the hands of others.

But it did not last long.

Suddenly one day, they took her to her father's house back and said that to help her motherless new mother.

She saw that her grandmother helped the woman a lot and took care of her dearly.

She wondered that she too was going to die like her mother, but this time her father was present to witness it.

Her young innocent heart went out for her. She did not insist her father then to hold her all the time or disturb him with her little needs.

She was silent and obedient to everyone in the house.

She started going to school again.

She was not complaining that her father did not come to her school anymore, since she knew he could not. He had to be near the dying person, she reasoned.

But one day they took her to the hospital to visit the woman. Once reached there, she thought of her mother's last days, she visited her just like she was doing now. One day she was gone and her life too, with her.

She was not ready to witness these again, not yet.

She was on the verge of crying while entering into the room.

Her grandfather greeted her with chocolates. She could not understand why.

Her new mother smiled at her and extended a hand toward her with a big smile on her face.

She could not understand why.

Her grandmother pulled her toward a cradle and showed her a baby.

She did understand everything.

Whenever her grands told or talked about her would-be brother/sister she did not believe that.

Now they introduced her cheerfully, "Your brother!"

Only one thing she could say clearly that they had cheated her, every one of them. How could her grands, after all?

At that point, she had stopped crying for anything. She started thinking...thinking for her...her little world had shattered yet again... Again, she had to accept the new relationship, after the new mother came into her life...Now this new brother!

She hated everybody around her... each and everybody!

Whenever The Lips Met...

Part-9:

Still her father was trying to cheat her unkindly that it was her brother and she had to take care of him... Just like he cheated her grands!

She decided. Her young mind tried to reason with her problems as she wanted it.

She was not ready to forgive her father, when her grandmother gave a responsibility to take care of the child while she cooked something for the child, one day.

The child was lying on the bed and was laughing at her with extended hands toward her.

She thought, it was laughing cheerfully, all the time, unlike her, since it took her happiness once for all when it came to the house.

None except her grandmother was home that day. Her grandfather had returned to his place. Her father went to the hospital with her new mother for a checkup.

She was kind of crying. The feeling would not leave her alone, no matter how hard she tried.

She knew that her mother's picture was on the upper cupboard near the bed.

She decided to take a look at her mother and climbed up the bed. When she tried to reach the rack up where she thought the picture was, it was not reachable to her hand.

She was standing on the balls of her legs as her hand slightly touched the picture.

She tried some more and pulled the picture without knowing that some of the other pictures were coming along.

She was about to lose the grip of her other hand from the cupboard's edge, when she pulled the picture forcedly.

The boy lying on the bed was still laughing.

When the contents of the cupboard fell, she did not know what to do.

She caught her mother's picture in the midway as one of the framed picture fell on the bed post and hit the boy's forehead before touched the floor.

The laughing stopped suddenly.

Her heart was beating fast till the boy started crying aloud.

Once the boy started crying, she let out a sigh and was even happy that she could make him cry.

It was new, for it would be him who would make her cry in the dark -of her nights.

She climbed down and was watching her mother's picture with satisfaction, when her grandmother called her and rushed into the room.

'How could she know that she was the reason for his cry?'- She wondered.

Her grandmother was shocked to see that the boy's forehead was bleeding.

She took the boy in hand and rushed out. More voices heard then and she got that her father had returned home.

She was scared to know that the boy was hospitalized for the stitch on his forehead.

She did not know how to face her father.

She did not come out of her room when the boy returned home two days later.

It gave her some peace to hear the boy's laughter as they crossed her room.

Her father was shouting, "This is too much, Jaya!"

"Oh, please Jai! She is just a child and she didn't do it deliberately."

"But she was standing there coolly, without considering him even when he was bleeding!"

She got angry then that her father was scolding her, but the new mother was supporting her for her mistake.

She did not want anyone's pity then, she decided.

She slowly approached her grandmother and asked her the unmistaken question,

"Can you take me to your place?"
