Monday kicked off with arzoo finally admitting in front of Sahir she wasn't pregnant. We had hoped that would clear up a misunderstanding and things would gradually start normalising between them. Didn't happen. instead we had Zaki's revelation on his feelings for Arzoo to Sahir and how she felt the same. Oh god, from the frying pan, into the fire. It would have been bearable if Sahir had just believed Zaki, but he didn't, he questioned him, twice. Second time even asking specifically if arzoo had verbally said this. Zaki says no but says she has expressed it in every other way, painfully going on to describe the very evidence that Sahir had been clinging onto that proved aarzoo actually had feelings for him. Total heartbreak.
Last week had also been fustrating as arzoo/Sahir had been unable to have a proper heart to heart on the topic. There was a second opportunity this week. Sahir's eyes said one thing but his words were like poison. Arzoo, so hurt, just walks away. The misunderstandings were just over boiling with no resolution in sight.
Then from Thursday, it was as if God (read CVs) had silently been listening to my pleas to at least take steps towards ending this love confusion. We got to see Aarzoo self-talk, giving a much needed view into what was going through her mind. We finally get to see that really all she has been doing is primarily for Sahir. She does see the love in his eyes but his words are in conflict and the uncertainty is killing her. Feeling not only her pain but seeing his as well she decides to stay away.
And after all this ranting and raving from Sahir and how he would prove she is just a gold digger, he comes to breakfast, restless, his eyes searching only for her. He wants to see her, hear her voice, feel her touch. She comes, and he rests, his whole being aware of her presence. He looks at her, searching for answers. She does the same. Do they see love for each other? Yes, I think they do. It's her birthday and he purposely doesn't wish her. He wants to see her reaction. He walks away and turns back. He sees her eyes. She is effected and he gets satisfaction from it. But as he leaves he goes back to Gabbar Chaudary mode and he gives her a sadistic kick by asking for another coffee. Arzoo is hurt once again.
So this is how we enter Friday's episode. The preparation is meticulous and we are shown the complete contrast to Zaki who is preparing a very generic evening.
He personally designs a suit for her. He writes a beautiful poem straight from the heart, he arranges for a moon. Everything is about acknowledging their personal journey together. Every gesture, designed to solidify their love.
If Sahir wanted to show she was a gold digger, he would have focused on an opulent evening, showering her with expensive gifts. But he doesnt. Because this evening isn't really about proving her as a gold digger. It's proving his inner voice right that this girl loves you as much as you love her. Once again his words to Zaki and real actions are shown to be in conflict.
And so the evening begins. He recites his poem written especially for her and she is left spellbound. She sees the dress and is mesmerised. She tells him something personal about her birthday and father. He asks her to meet him in an hour and starts walking away. Then has an afterthought, he turns and returns to her. In a voice that can only be described as 'desirous' he asks her to wear the dress.
The evening then really begins.Sahir is intoxicated by Aarzoo. He is shown to be an intense, passionate, and fiery lover. The man is lost in the world he has created. Arzoo feels equally drawn to him. Seeing the passion in each other and the drawn out separation over the last few days has made their union even more intense.
This ends with a Sahir so lost in ecstasy that all inhibitions have gone and he makes a confession of love from the depths of his heart. He calls her 'meri humsafar' with heavy emphasis on the word 'meri'. After all these days, he has got complete confirmation that Aarzoo's heart belongs to him and him alone.
Arzoo is the first to snap out of it. She tells him she doesn't love him and runs. Sahir at this point also comes out of his trance. His thoughts go back to the week from the deal to Zaki saying Aarzoo loves him. He looks up. Is he back to dhokka mode? Is he back to zeenat's promise? Or has he realised that he was so blinded by the deal and what others were saying he didn't listen to his own heart and regrets on trusting Aarzoo.
The pre-cap shows that Sahir has followed her for answers. He needs to understand her mind. Aarzoo is clear. Trust and belief build foundations for a relationship. Neither exist currently. Sahir is listening to her. He never realised the mixed signals he had been sending.
The week has been mixed feelings for me. But at the end of the week, I am happy with it. Could be this is what the CVs wanted to happen. Utter frustration as the misunderstandings get worse in week 2 of this drama. May be that was the aim, in which case they succeeded. I do worry though that the larger audience may not always have the patience to wait for the story to unfold. My mother (an ardent fan of some saas bahu serials who got into HS a few weeks back) commented that she is finding the story very 'slow' over the past 2 weeks. She was getting irritated with Aarzoo and found the Zaki-Aarzoo relationship too irritating. She hit the roof when Zaki said Aarzoo loved him. She was bored with the filler episodes this week. Could be the creative team needed time for this killer Friday episode and could be they are replanting their approach. I do feel we have radio silence from the makers. Similar to how Sahir needed this confirmation from Aarzoo, I think would be good to get some confirmation from them on the issues being raised on timings, repeats etc so we can connect as well!
