Why I want Amit to win

There have been countless threads on Amit and whether he'll reach the top 3/ become the next Indian Idol etc.. I want to shed a different light on why he should win this competition.

We all know his story. He's 24 years old, from a small town in India, and he gave up studies to pursue his dream of becoming a singer. Now compare him with the rest of the contestants. Chang is a doctor; Prashant is a Sepoy; Abhishek is an engineering student; Emon, Deepali, Pooja and Ankita are all young and still have time to go down different paths/start life over if they don't win the 1 crore contract. But what about Amit? He is talented enough to make a career out of singing, but he has been struggling to break through. And right now, he's at a stage where it'll be difficult for him to make a living out of something other than singing.

We have the power to shape his life for him. I'm not trying to look for sympathy votes...it's important to realise that he's talented enough to deserve to become the next Indian Idol. The purpose of this thread is to make people (re)consider his circumstances and to share why I'm rooting for him (besides being a fan of his awesome voice and hardworking, humble nature).

i don't know if i should agree or disagree, I think he should win too. but to say he should win cos he won't have anything else to do seems a little not very right. It's not our issue if he didn't follow his studies. But based on talent he should for sure get a break in the music industry and win. no offence meant to anyone.

amit shud win indian idol..or atleast as of now he is THE best contendor for the title...
but thtz regardless of wat he has done in the past...the guy is a powerhouse of talent n i dun see why he should not win..

i've never looked upon his situation this way, but wat ever u said is very true.
he's not only one of the best singers on idian idol, but also a very humble human being with a heart of gold.
Amit hasn't been in the limelight like the other contestant, but now the janta is realy starting to take notice of him based purely on his singing.
hopefuli everyone forgives his mistake of forgettin lyrics and not doing as great as he always does in the sixth gala.

According to me Amit deserves to be in the top 2 with Emon. I feel both have their own strengths. But I will base my decision on who sings better at that time assuming that they are in the top 2. I do understand what your saying. Even last year, there was Amey who was 26 and its really hard to get a break so late in life sometimes.
