My theory is that for a neutral audience, they respond to the film first, then the ideology behind it ….if the film is good they can give the ideology a pass ….never the other way around …they can be appreciative of the film without blindly agreeing with its glazing …this is someone like baradwaj rangan for eg

If someone is heavily convinced that the film is propoganda prior to watching it, and then watch it with that lens ….nothing fits for them…the payoffs don’t work , the technique dosent work and the film dosent end up working at all for them …this is people like sucharita tyagi, Anupama chopra etc

On the other hand if someone agrees heavily with the ideology and goes in with that lens, every sequence in the film works for them infact 10 fold ….these are the “peak detailing by Aditya dhar” guys who pick out even the most mundane things as peak detailing 😂…this is people like those YouTubers pratiek borade etc

Point is , a polarizing film only works well if neutral audience is on their side and can appreciate it….which is the case here…it was the case with kabir Singh aswell ….and also animal…people who didn’t quite agree with the ideology shown in these movies also had something nice to say abt it coz the films had merits ….

With something like kerela story 2 , or even kerela story 1 for that matter, it was mostly watched by people heavily convinced of its ideology…most neutral audiences felt it was a terrible film …so it didn’t make an impression beyond initial hype and numbers ….

P.S. Those critical of the first film also got hounded but that did not stop the criticism as is the case now. Peak detailing memes and mocking of Dhar proves that criticism is happening as well.

The Only thing I accept about Dhurandhar 2 is it's BO Collection, which I predicted before release in forum & also to you as well that this film will broke every single record made earlier in any language by any Indian film.

Movie is a good to watch n cast's acting is top notch, n Dhar is good in his job. That's the only reason for film success. Ranveer n other deserves success for their hard work.

Propaganda look foolish when world has all information on tip of their finger n can see through lies. Many propoganda films have hardly been successfull as ppl r tired of hearing same rhetoric from last 10 yrs.

So many propaganda movies have failed in recent past.

Part 1 raised my expectation from Ranveer & I was very disappointed to see him in Part 2, kuch samajh hi nahi aa raha tha, ke Hamza karna kya chahta hai, woh Sher-e-Baloch ban gaya, woh kabhi king of lyari ban gaya, itne chapters mein kab kahan kya kar raha hai no idea.

Jo kaam Part 1 mein kiya, ismein woh nazar nahi aaya. Baaki Dhar Saab ne koi kammi nahi chhodi film ka naas maarne mein.

Your issues seem to be more with the script but with what he was given IMO he excelled and carried the film completely covering its flaws with his brilliant performance. Opinions are subjective but as a long time fan of his, I find Dhurandhar 2 to be his greatest performance onscreen. I am surprised you did not find his acting amazing given your love for massy films but to each his own. You seem to be in the minority regarding his acting in D 2 atleast. Yeh film ke baad iska mass appeal exponentially badh gaya hain which was not the case after Pt 1.

Anyway let's hope Ranveer's next Pralay can satisfy the new fan in you.
