Baby', Dolly Ki Doli', Khamoshiyan' make space for each other

January 23 in 2015, the four day weekend is latest hot spot for film releases as Baby', Dolly Ki Doli' and Khamoshiyan' are scheduled to release on the same day.
Films clashing when released together may look like a business lessened prospect for each of them but it certainly offers a treat and more choices to the viewers. Furthermore it also brings the focus on the need to consider quality filmmaking on part of filmmakers and not to depend on formulas as then only they will be able to attract more viewers. It also shows the growth of film industry in the new millennium as in the last century it used to be only one film that used to occupy screens for months which changed to new film every week and now there are multiple new, that too big budget films in a week.
Now as the number of films being produced has gone steadily up, so getting a solo weekend release is known to have become practically impossible these days. Interestingly it seems that even well known and famous filmmakers have also accepted the fact considering the January 23 clash in not happening by fluke but rather will fully.
Akshay Kumar starrer Baby', directed by Neeraj Pandey, is produced by Bhushan Kumar, who is owner of T-Series Company that has also bought music rights of Arbaaz Khan produced Dolly Ki Doli'. In fact the music rights of almost all films of Salman Khan have remained with Bhushan Kumar including Arbaaz Khan produced and directed blockbuster Dabangg' series music rights were with T-series. Bhushan Kumar was also co-producer along with Sohail Khan in Ready' featuring Salman Khan. The real arithmetic behind release of these films together is understood to be Baby' star Akshay Kumar's good bonhomie and understanding with Salman Khan which is respected by his brother Arbaaz too.
The third film, Khamoshiyan' that features Ali Fazal, Sapna Pubbi and Gurmeet Choudhary, belongs to Bhatt camp. Similarly Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt have successfully collaborated with T-series founder Late Gulshan Kumar (including Sadak', Aashiqui', Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi' etc). Aashiqui 2', the recent musical blockbuster from Bhatt camp with music by T-series further strengthened their bonding. However, Bhatt brothers will also release their film alongside Baby' and there is nothing strange about it that despite sharing a good personal bonding among them they are ready for film clash. The reason is simple and commercial too. The release date 23rd January has got extended weekend of four days.

23rd January is Friday, hence the films releasing on this date will have the advantage of four day weekend with Monday, January 26 being Republic Day and a national holiday. The prospect is enough for luring these three releases to take risk with respective big budgeted films. The experts also believe that sharing screens will not be a problem for the films as extended four days will give each one of them a right space to collect their share of profits.
Akshay Kumar's Baby' is expected to release in around 1800 screens, Arbaaz Khan's Dolly Ki Doli' will be released in 1200-1400 screens and Khamoshiyan' despite a lesser known star cast but having goodwill of Bhatt camp film, will get around 800 screens.
It is also being believed by filmmakers now that equal and just sharing of screens will not affect each other's business and the producers of these three films are not even considering each other a potential competitor. It has also been heard that Ayushmann Khurrana's Hawaizaada' will also release on Jan 23, but films producer Reliance Entertainment has decided to secure a safe release date instead of clashing with the titans.
So, it appears that it's a win-win situation for each, but only the box office figures will reflect the true story of these films. However it's the viewers who will have real treat during Republic day weekend as fans are eagerly awaiting the release of these films. All the three films have been in news with inspiring poster and trailer creating buzz from some time now.
