Nice post dear. Arjun was a part of the monkey gang, a bunch of theives whom Arjun would help enter homes by climbing on, we already get a hint of his talent here and how he learned to channel that in a good way with the help of his guruji.Arjun has a clean heart, it can be seen as to how humble he is at heart for his guruji, or the friend he met yesterday, the way he looks upto Colonel but the only way he knows to close the hatchet on his juvenile crimes is by closing the lid on his past. He is not arrogant about how far he has come, he is well-grounded and it shows just by the way he keeps his orphanage pics in his wallet, doesn't change his name on gaining fame n success. He knows who he was and remembers it well.
The BEST aspect I find in Arjun's character is that he doesnt despise his past or hate it.
Also I believe the approach he has taken towards his past is commendable, moving out and beyond that tag of a thief and becoming one of the worlds best mountaineer is also taking life into his own hands and getting something positive out of it. So he has already turned a new leaf.
Part of the reason why his past crime still follows him is because of his own guilt. And it is because of this crime that he is missing out on his lovely childhood. The reason he is probably hiding his actual background. He misses his friends, and his place, but he cant walk upto it, because he is afraid everything will collapse, all that he has built over the years.
I find Arjun more in control of his emotions at all times, he is practical in his approach and that's what makes him a layered character. Coming to what we saw of him at NIM, Arjun doesn't come to the fore until he sees a major threat, he realized the danger Raman was in and told off the black horses, when Yohaan hurt his foot, he said the guy is not going to die, reach ur place, do what you have to do then come back for him. So he is what I would call, an experienced mountaineer and not someone who gets swayed by emotions, and I do agree with him when he says the perspective of right or wrong changes when at a height. I dont blame him for his decision with Sanbir, but it was a situation which leaves one cold and numb.
Lastly, I would just say, There is a reason as to why there are prisons, as to why people are punished. If the society doesn't believe in giving second chances, then there's no point of serving a punishment.
