Yes, but most of these mothers have arranged marriages in which thier husbands are also sons first. This is a centuries old tradition, but the thing I don't understand is:

If Ammaji and her husband have a love marriage which her saas accepted, then why can't she accept her sn's love?

A woman has a child and nurtures the embryo and later infant in her womb because that's how nature planned it. To seek a return gift for it is comical. Of course, a mother's role in a child's life is significant, no one questions that, there is a definite demarcation between a mother's role and wife's role and that should be respected by both!

I guess when ammaji was able to convince all to leave dadaji (who was the kaanta in her side) and live happily ever after, she might have thought she could get rid of the newest kaanta in her life 😆

Even my MIL has this kind of obsession for all her son's but more for her younger Son. Even now there is only cordial relation between my BIL and his wife irrespective of having 2 children.

Yes it is, and this nature hits us big time. My elder Co-sis is no more and younger one ignores my MIL completely, me left with occasional backlashes.

Bunty tells Sagarika that he's a son first, husband later. Sagarika is also a daughter first. So what if she shared Ammaji's antics? There's nobody in that house to share stuff. Ammaji is a bully. Gets her way with tears. Looks like her daughter is sane. What's daughter's story? I haven't watched that many episodes.

Padmaja thats what I see for my younger BIL and his wife. Even though they have one kid. the relationship is just cordial. Mom and son go and watch movies while she stays home with the son who is 1.5 years. I once jokingly said to them cant you guys leave the kid with MIL and go watch movie together. Like once MIL can go and once SIL can go. I swear the look i got from my MIL had daggers in it😆

Ya the daughter knows her Amma...Daughter story was that she loved a guy who backed off from marriage and she wasnt getting any proposals after that which was making everyone crazy. She befriended Sagarika at her older brother(Pappu) wedding so she knows Sagarika is very mature. Now she is also engaged but has a sensible head on her unlike her Amma.
