PRIYANKA'S NOT MY MENTOR: PARINEETI
Actor says she doesn't discuss work with her cousin; seeks film-maker Aditya Chopra's advice instead
Before Parineeti Chopra made her Bollywood debut, she was known as Priyanka Chopra's cousin. However, now, six films later, the actor seems to have found her footing in the industry. While on numerous occasions, Parineeti has spoken about how she continues to share a close bond with her star sister, she has now revealed that she doesn't consider her a mentor. In fact, it is directorproducer Aditya Chopra who Parineeti calls her mentor. Talking about how she seeks his opinion before she signs any film, she says, "Adi is my mentor, not Priyanka. I don't discuss work with her, but I do discuss work with him. He is the one person who has known me from before I entered the industry. He was the one who discovered me."
So far, except for one film (Hasee Toh Phasee), all the movies Parineeti has starred in have been produced by Aditya. Before she made her Bollywood debut with Ladies vs. Ricky Bahl in 2011, she worked as a marketing professional for Aditya's production company. "Adi knows what I should sign next. I never sign a film without taking his advice. He takes time out to sit with me and discusses the films that are offered to me. He asks me, Okay, why do you want to do this film?' He guides me, but he never takes a decision for me," says Parineeti.
Interestingly, the other person in the industry whose advice she seeks is director Maneesh Sharma. "I talk to Maneesh about everything. He really knows what is good for me as I have not grown up in this city, and I am an outsider to the industry," says Parineeti.
