I was sitting in the college canteen with my usual guitar and gang. I was trying out a new tune that I was refining for the fest at the end of the month. My best friend Purab was sitting right next to me helping my sister Aaliya with her assignment while they munched on the canteen samosa.
***
I looked up from my guitar and saw her entering the canteen - anger flared inside me. That chashmish again! Wasn't it enough that she got me thrown out of the class because I was smoking in the last bench? Why did she need to come here too, where I was spending some time in peace! If she has made it this far, I can avenge my insult back in the classroom here.
"Oyi chashmish! Got your own self, kicked out of class after me? Awww..didn't get any other volunteer?"
"Listen just shut up! Class got over and we have a free period now"
"OMG a free class and you're in the canteen? Let me guess, they have again called for pest control in the library to ward off book chewing pests and you?"
Aaliya and I sniggered at this, however Purab frowned a little and muttered to me for leaving his Pragya di alone. Pragya gave me one last disgusted look and walked away. I sometimes wished this chashmish and Purab weren't distantly related cousins! She got far too much leniency from me due to this.
Pragya sat down on a table near our's and slammed her bag on the table. Her friend BB looked up at her in concern.
"Pragya, what happened?"
"That Abhi nah! God knows what he thinks of himself! Had he not been so close to Purab, I wouldn't have to be so lenient with him all the time!"
"Trust me I tolerate your attitude for the same reason" I thought to myself.
"Uff Pragya, I never understand why are you always so harsh with Abhi. He is so cute!" piped BB. I couldn't help smirking.
"You - Silly girls like you are the reason that this arrogant guy flies so high - he thinks he is some rising rockstar! The world is a much better places without pot headed men like him as celebrities"
"Uff Pragya, God knows when will such a day arrive when you will learn to appreciate hotness" - I smiled some more at this thinking how her attraction for me must be irritating the life out of that chashmish, I was satisfied.
BB laughed good-naturedly and took a bite of her sandwich and looked longingly at me. I granted her a smile; she had earned it by shoving her loyalty towards me on that chashmish's face! Pragya however remained silent and irritated and dug her head in a book for the rest of the time.

"Oyi Ms. Blind Chashmish! Along with your eyes, have you even lost your ears too? I have been honking for so long! Cant you move aside?" I screamed irritatedly at her. I was driving back home with Purab after college.
"For your information this is a narrow by-lane meant for walking not driving your bling toy! Where will I move and go?"
"Cant you ever behave like a normal person you retarded chashmish? Fine, next time I won't honk, I will plainly run over you with my car"
Purab interfered once again. Everytime, I am about to win an argument with her, Purab steps in to protect her - this irritates me - but I guess I understand - afterall even I would do the same for Aaliya
"Abhi chill it nah. Di, you're walking home alone? Your neighbour BB isn't walking with you?"
"No Purab, she had some work, she left early"
"Wait di, I will come with you and walk you home"
"No No Pur----"
"No di, I insist. It is getting dark, I will walk you home"
I sighed in silence - Weren't we going to my place to catch the latest episode of Star Wars today evening? Trust chashmish to ruin every plan of my life! Sometimes I feel her sole purpose of birth is to upset my plans!
love it!! college time abhigya! purab in brotherly role! everything perfection!! thanks aafrah!

14th February 2004
There is this new exchange student in our class named Tanu Mehta. She joined some few weeks back - she is the talk of the class now. She is quite attractive, and many say she is a struggling model - judging by her attitude and oomph - it doesn't seem like she will take time to establish herself - she asked me out for a date today - I think she has heard the word from outside that I don't ask girls out - they ask me out.
***
I took her to the Caf Nero next to our college - Yes I know, I could have taken her to a posh place - But I didn't on purpose - She is the latest frenzy in the college - if I was out on a date with her on V-Day, I had to be near college, so people could see this for themselves and fret about - I am not the one who will go out there and tell people like an idiot that she asked me out - I am Abhi -I have a rep to protect!
I was sitting there nonchalantly listening to her stories which mostly included models of well repute feeling threatened by her beauty and style, when entertainment herself walked into the caf in a pale blue kurti and leggings, with another dose of higher entertainment also wearing thick round glasses like her, and long pants that almost reached up to his chest. My mouth cracked into a wicked smile when I realized chashmish was here with her date!
She saw me too and to my satisfaction, she looked visibly uncomfortable at my presence. She walked her date to the furthest booth from us and sat keeping her back towards us.
I was bored of Tanu and her ramblings anyway, so I picked up the phone and pretended I suddenly had some urgent work, so I had to leave. A disheartened Tanu looked at me reluctantly and got up to leave. I walked her to her car and bid her goodbye. My plan worked, a lot of the other guys from college had noticed us, and gaped at my luck, whereas the girls looked visibly jealous of her. I smirked and walked back inside the caf once Tanu was gone. I walked directly to their booth and thought to myself "Time for some entertainment Abhi!"
"Hey chashmish! I thought your father was unwell that's why you couldn't make it to our date! I had planned such fancy stuff for us! But you're here with this guy? Chashmish are you cheating on me?" I made a pained expression and looked into her eyes. She was obviously startled.
"What date? How did you know that my------", but I didn't let her complete.
"What date? That is what our relationship has come to, now that you have someone else lined up? And how did I know? Simply by looking at the way you are talking to him, how dare you flirt with someone else while you are in a relationship with me?" I could continue on these cheesy filmy lines for longer maintaining my flawless acting, but I didn't need to - The male chashmish with the long pants upto his chest got up to his feet by now and looked intensely at Pragya.
"You know Pragya, you really shouldn't have done this with neither me nor your friend. Anyways, I think I should leave now - this isn't going to work out between us"
"But Suresh---" pleaded Pragya, but he was gone. She then turned to face me, her face boiling in anger!
"What? You thought you're the only one being lenient with me because of Purab? Awww...brother dearest didn't save you this time? You called for it yourself chashmish, you have been getting on my nerves for a long time now - learn from this and stay away from my and Purab's life" I finished.
Pragya said nothing. She just gave me one last murderous look before rushing out of the caf, carefully avoiding all the eyes that were on us now.
"Ah sweet fruits of revenge" I thought to myself, as I left for home.
