BOI normally gets total final details from distributors with in a month or two. Still they too post aprox data which they get from distributors and hence they too post estimations which are near to the final collection.

They lack some details due to old fashioned single screens in non urban areas, but that's very low. At most their figure can be off by10% . as an example for a big movie, there may be a variation between 10-15 croes between producer and BOI. If the gap is more, its fake.

It so far only happened with Krish 3 and Bang Bang only.

yeah, many come under those 2 categories, u can chose by ur self which category u deserve.
