Karan Kundra: 'Kritika and I are much closer now'

K aran Kundra who has created a niche for himself in youthbased shows like Gumrah: End Of Innocence and V The Serial is back with season 2 of Fanaah. There were rumours which suggested that the previous season didn't do well and hence was pulled off. Denying those reports, Karan says, ' I think rain played a major spoiler. A lot of our scenes had to be shot outdoors and there were times when the director used to say action and it used to rain. So that took away a lot of our time. Also, around the same time I had to promote my Punjabi film, so I had to be away for a while and the same was conveyed much before we began shooting for Fanaah. Anita ( Hassanandani) too had to take out time for Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. And to add onto our misery, I hurt my ribs while doing a stunt and Ratan ( Rajput) got dengue. So it isn't that the show wasn't doing well, it was gradually picking up. It was actually everything else that was going against the show.' However, certain reports only suggested that Karan's rib fracture and Ratan's dengue was the main reason to bring down the curtains. ' I don't think that's fair. But you tell me what would I do if I my ribs get fractured while shooting for the show. As an actor I too wanted to show my calibre. However, if the rains affect the schedule and I get only a few hours to finish my part, where would the quality come from?' asks Karan.

Talking about the next season of Fanaah, Karan says, ' Season 2 is much simpler. A lot of research has been done and based on that we have retained stuff from the previous season that worked.' Karan now is working with Meghna Naidu in the show. ' For me, she is a sweetheart. And of course she is very hot, there is no denial to that. But moreover, she is a very beautiful and an interesting person,' Karan says.

Besides doing television and Punjabi films, Karan is all set for his Bollywood film Rum Pum Posshh. ' Earlier, there were some issues around the film but now it's sorted,' he says.

While Karan and his ex- girlfriend Kritika Kamra have broken up, they still manage to remain friends.

However, every now and then there are reports which suggest that the ex- couple are back together. So does that affect their current rapport? ' Nothing changes between me and Kritika. In fact, I think we are much closer as friends than we were in a relationship.

The last time we met for lunch and then went for a bike ride, those pictures were all over. Kritika is a very strong girl and can deal with such things. But we must remember that she is a girl and has a family. So we need to respect that. Now we have mutually decided that we will not put up any pictures together that may result in unnecessary rumours. But yes, we are friends and will always remain so,' Karan says.

Now that he's single, is there a new girl in his life? ' No, currently I am only concentrating on my work,' Karan says.
