Go Arjun Go!!
"Who the devil are you?"
He knew it would sound stupid, but he could not help himself, but ask.
The caller did not answer his simple question, but started laughing at him as though to say, 'Find out yourself!'
It irritated him further.
Even though he knew it would not be of much use and he could not do the same mistake twice in a row, he whispered, as a sudden weariness engulfed him.
"Where are you?"
To his surprise the caller did not laugh this time, but answered him.
"Find out!" , He stopped a moment, then said, "Find it out, ACP!" he insisted, once again.
For the first time in his life, the mention of his designation annoyed him, badly.
"Your time starts 'NOW!'"
.~.
He thrust himself forward clumsily, as the files on his desk got agitated and fell or tried to come along.
He left everything behind and ran outside toward the computer room, but still felt as though he was just poking along.
He could not tolerate the burden pressing his heart, anymore. If he did not lift it out at least a bit, it threatened him to shatter him into pieces in a moment's time.
He screamed out in fear, "Shree!!.."
There was no reply for his tumult.
He tried to move faster, but the legs- no, the heart would not allow him to go fast.
After an eternity, he heard a voice that sounded like symphony.
"Sir, I'm coming!"
At last he dashed into a figure.
Before he fell down and dried to bone on the unexpected impact I caught him by the shoulders and he had started talking much before I could start understanding the verse.
"Shree!", he clutched my hands as though to confirm that I was real, "Shree, can you help me? Please! Can you?"
He started cringing.
"Sir, Sir! Please calm down!"
"Shree, he called, Shree! He called!"
He thrust his mobile in my hand.
"Wait a minute, NOW!" I raised my voice and told in a hard tone.
That stopped him a moment and gave him a chance to brace himself.
"Can you help me?"
He asked at last.
"You know I'll!"
That calmed him further.
"He said he had kidnapped Roshini!"
He said ever so softly and emotionally.
"Sir, we've to-"
"He talked from her mobile, Shree!"
"It doesn't mean-"
Then he informed me the seriousness of the situation.
"I heard her voice, Shree!"
I moved toward the computer room and was working meticulously with the machines.
Once I settled down in my chair, as the instrument started locating the number, he said, "I called her to inform that I was coming home. I could not reach her. It was engaged and I got her call then."
I turned to face him.
"Roshini called my name and started crying. Then he talked," he was telling numbly. But he was retracing the whole scene, I could see.
I could understand him. And I did not want to give him mere words, but solid things like evidences, whereabouts or even if I could his life back!
I was silent and I knew he did not want anything from me but information!
It seemed the technology was much slow, even to me and I could not imagine his mentation.
After that first burst out, he was composed, I realized. He too was silent.
Whenever I or the system blinked, he looked us on the hope that we might show something out.
At last the best spots appeared on the screen and I got something to give out to him.
"Sir, he or the mobile is in motion. It's moving fast toward the outer city. In minutes it will cross the city borders. My best guess is the mobile is in a vehicle and it must be a four wheeler."
I was continuously giving him nothing but the bad news.
But he seemed calculating something.
He suddenly spoke, "Shree, do one thing. Keep me informed!"
He got to his feet.
"Sir, I-"
"No, I need this simple and quiet. I've to get this stopped, before it can go out of hands."
He started running toward his car and hopped in.
The car came out of the office building and started flying towards the main road. Once got into the main road he had turned into a menace.
The car reached the bridge and crossed it in a flash. But he had to cross yet another bridge to reach the border of the city.
He had almost reached the lone road when he was about to hit into a truck, which came out of a side street to the main road.
He hit the brakes hard as the driver of the truck did.
Once saw the logo on the side of the 'about to hit car', the driver checked himself from a reprimand.
He quickly closed the driver's door as he had changed his mind from descending from the vehicle and waited for the car to move.
Arjun moved the car in even pace. And the incident reminded him something, something most important.
'You can get dead Arjun, but not Roshini! You can lose a part of your body, but not Roshini, who is more important than your own soul! You should be alive for that until you get there, at least.'
After that he was careful and was riding fast enough to keep him alive.
At last he reached the road and drove off as he heard a voice in his ear piece.
"Sir, from there you have to go at least two kilometers to reach the knitting factory and once you reach there, you've to take the side road which will take you to the empty road to the village."
Before I could finish he had covered the two kilometers.
I wondered in this speed if he could reach the village safely.
I did not voice out my doubts.
Arjun noticed the road and took it.
"Sir, you don't have to go into the village. The signal is coming from the outer area around it and you are near it.
It sounded sweet to him.
.~.
"I've entered into a street," he informed.
"Sir, you are within 400 yards from the spot."
Arjun left the vehicle and started moving towards his destiny, drawing the gun in hand.
He crossed a house which had been locked. There was no house on the opposite line to give him light.
He moved in the dark further and found empty plots around.
In the dark, he slowly reached an abandoned house as I said, "Sir, now you are in the spot I think. The mobile is to your left, perhaps within twenty feet."
Arjun lifted his eyes and saw the remains of the old house. Without a sound he reached in and found himself standing between the mutilated parts-hardly one could call it as a room.
"Sir, you are-"
"I can see the mobile Shree." he whispered and cut the call.
"Sir-"
God! I can't call him again now, for it will expose him right away.
I had no choice but to wait.
.~.
'It's Roshini's, all right. Her mobile is here, where is she?'
He moved toward the mobile and as he was going to touch it, the mobile which was on a half wall started ringing.
