The episode begins with Hayley screaming and running towards a red door. Elijah is shirtless and blood is smeared all over his body. He comes chasing Hayley and suddenly Hayley turns out to be Tatia. Elijah is still held captive by Esther and she tells him that she wants to fix everything and that they could be family once again in witch bodies. Elijah scoffs at her. She goes on to talk about all the ladies Elijah has been with and calls them "butterflies". The first butterfly being Tatia Petrova.
FLASH BACKThere's some kind of a bonfire and Tatia is seen dancing around it. Klaus comes and kisses her. Elijah watches them, gets sad and walks away. Tatia comes following him and tells him that she loves him. She kisses Elijah.
Esther reminds Elijah that he was the one who killed Tatia. Elijah denies and tells her that she was the one who drained her body of blood to seal the curse on Klaus.
Davina is still out. Kaleb picks on Klaus, and he gets mad. Cami drags Klaus out of the cabin.She tells him that he didn't kill his father(when he could have) and now he won't kill the Kaleb. He gives the white oak stake to her and she goes to the car. Klaus tells Kaleb that he knows he's Kol and they have an argument. Both keep provoking each other. Klaus suddenly realizes that Cami hasn't returned and goes to check up on her only to find her and Mikael missing.
He leaves a message for Elijah asking him about his whereabouts. He asks Kaleb to wake up Davina and call back Mikael. Kaleb refuses. Finn calls Kaleb and asks him if he has the white-oak stake. Kaleb tells him about how Davina is trying to unlink her friends from Klaus. Finn asks to either kill Davina or break the spell by finding the binder. Mikael has Cami. She tries reasoning with him and ridicules the father-son-getting-back-at-each-other thing.
Kaleb manages to find the binder. Davina wakes up and asks him about what happened. She tries using the bracelet to summon him but only in vain. Davina wants to finish the spell right away. Hayley comes to Marcel and thanks him for his help. She also tells him that she's unable to track down Elijah. She realizes that even Oliver is missing. Marcel offers his help in tracking them down.
FLASHBACKKlaus had just finished the transformation. Elijah tries to console Klaus. Tatia comes and she sees all the bodies. She tries to run away. Elijah goes after her. Unable to control the blood lust he bites Tatia.
Esther calls Tatia his prey. Elijah still blames Esther for murdering Tatia for her blood.Klaus tries to track down Mikael. Kaleb offers to help Davina to do the spell. They get started on the spell.
Mikael blames Klaus for turning him against the family. Cami defends Klaus by telling him that his own children's infidelity was not Klaus's fault. Mikael goes on about how he killed his youngest son and his wife. Mikael feeds on Cami.
Hayley calls Klaus to inform him about Elijah missing. He tells her that he has another pressing issue to be taken care of. Hayley is astonished and asks him what is so important than saving his own brother. Klaus says his life.
The spell's not working and Davina finds out that Kaleb is Kol. They have a witch fight but Davina has the lead. She blames him for outing her. Kaleb tells her that he can disable the white-oak stake temporarily as it's a dark object.
FLASHBACKElijah brings an almost lifeless Tatia to Esther. Esther tells him that she'll take care and asks him to clean up.
Esther tells Elijah that he made up his mind that whatever happened behind the red door stays there. She tries brainwashing him by making him feel guilty of his deeds. She tells him that it's only a matter of time before Hayley is behind that door.
Mikael-Klaus face off again. He puts the stake through Klaus but his body does not burn because Daleb disable the stake. Marcel and Hayley come to Klaus's aid. Mikael runs away. Davina has the stake and tells Kaleb that she needed to get even with Klaus.
Hayley manages to break in to Esther's place, feeds on her and rescues Elijah. She senses that Elijah's hungry and asks him to feed from her. Elijah refuses and tells her that he craves her. Hayley tells him that she is not afraid. Elijah feeds on Hayley.But it's a dream that Esther wanted him to dream.
