Oath Taking Ceremony

I'm not going to waste time on Karishma today - the poor girl really has some deep seated insecurities and confidence issues - hopefully her stint in BB will help her be able to see her face in the mirror without cringing.

What I found vastly interesting was Ali's initiation ceremony. So according to the much admired P3G group - there are certain qualities that identify "Men" and make them stand apart from "Women"

1. You will use your independent thinking and not follow the herd mentality: I thought the women in the Glass Room group were the ones using their brains - and the men on both sides are only playing "Follow The Leader" - Puneet/Gautam on this side and whoever is the stronger woman on that side.

2. You will not get into fights, instead will try to stop fights: Interesting!! So far the only Woman-Woman fight in the house has been the Diandra-Sonali fiasco - in all the rest of the fights there have either been two men or at least one man involved. Even in the Diandra Sonali fight - the men did all the shouting and jumping and drama - the two women just kept quiet, stated their POVs and minded their own business.

3. You will not be tale-bearer or try to instigate one group against the other: Again the women in the house have proved again and again that they are least bothered about what the other group is saying or doing. It is usually the men (Ali, Sushant, Arya) who carry tales and try to instigate fights.

4. You will try to be just in all situations and not favor your friends unduly: Again so far NO ONE in the house has been able to rise above the group mentality and be neutral or just at times of conflict. Not A Single House member.

Can't recall the rest and would appreciate if someone on the forum could update me. But the larger point is that none of these habits/behaviors are gender-specific. They are more to do with individuals - Urvashi was a person who was able to rise above groupism and support what is right, so was Kamya to some extent. Gauhar tried to be just and fair, though even she was not able to rise above supporting her friends. Arman and Imam are prime examples who thrived on creating conflicts. If it was Pratyusha last season, this season it is Sushant and Ali - who are tale- bearers.

What I always find objectionable is this kind of stereotyping and vilification of one gender - whether it is all negative traits associated with women, or whether it is objectifying men as maniacs, who can't be expected to control their sexual instincts.

I don't post often but couldn't help reply to this silly post.

No one ever said that these qualities were gender specific. Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.

All they said to Ali was that he should join the men instead of the women. The bedroom gang was dominated by women and still is if you include Sonali whereas in the other group its just men. That was the only distinction being made.

Why do women feel the need to make a 'gender' issue out of every little thing. Are they really that insecure?

The post is not silly IMO...they did say the word "lugaibaaji" lugaai means woman...maybe u need to watch the video once again before dramatically asking if women are really insecure...cheers!

I don't get it. They said if you want to join the men's gang you need to take certain oaths. They never said these oaths were gender specific. All it was that to join us you need to agree to these certain things.

As mentioned, they only referred to their group as the men's group. They never referred to the oath as being gender specific. And the group was referred to as the men's group because they have no women with them.

@Uber - facing comprehension issues?

I think if you take the trouble to READ my post, instead of venting spleen, you might find that all the time I'm actually denouncing - SURPRISE, SURPRISE - gender stereotyping.

So please stop fulminating and add your two bits to the discussion - if you have anything valuable to add, except to rant at one particular gender - like you've been doing in all your posts.

Just wanted to point out initiation ceremonies are always filled with stupid stuff. But they weren't serious and puneet was just saying stuff for the sake of saying stuff.
