I think it's time these actresses thinks twice before giving any kind of lecture on women empowering. If you do stand by it then only lecture about it if you do not stand by it or you don't know what you feel about it then better say "no comments" when asked about it instead of giving lectures but not practicing what you preach ! better to be quiet than coming across like a hypocrite.
Some weeks back we had Deepika screaming from roof tops where she took a stand against being objectified with our her knowledge the next thing she does is objectify herself in a much worse way but that's totally fine because getting objectified in a film is fine as long as it's not done off screen, in other words "Pay me and objectify me but if you don't pay me then you can't objectify me" She needs to shut up about women empowering because be it off screen or onscreen both is wrong.Now we have Parineeti who at several events have talked about women empowering and today she was on Bigg Boss and she agreed to play a prank on a contestant on the show who earlier this week was accused of misbehaving physically with a girl. Parineeti went and danced with the guy then she stopped dancing and accused him of misbehaving and it was a JOKE! SHAME ON PARINEETI and of course to bigg boss, salman and the rest of kill dill team who was part of this prank.These are just recent examples we have several other examples also. But since Vogue's Women Empower campaign is going on where especially these two actresses have been very vocal about it I am pointing them out because they coming across like hypocrites.It's pathetic when actresses make a joke of such a topic, not cool at all when it's a big problem in India.
Speaking of objectification,just got a few questions.Girls drooling over the men on-screen with 6-pack abs,isn't that objectification of men? Coming up with comments like 'He is just yummy!',what exactly is this? The majority of the youth watching po*n,what is it all about? Objectification of both men and women happens everywhere around us,and no doubt every single one of us has been indulged in it at times and also has even been at the receiving end. Why come up with this holier than thou attitude in an online forum? What is shown on-screen is many a time purely to please the senses.But what one takes from it is purely dependent on the viewer. Excessive violence,cliched scenes depicting the patriarchal society,sugar-coated love scenes causing feminism go down the bins,glorification of drugs,drinks and what not.. Are all these issues shown in movies not at par with objectification? And do we really imbibe them in our real lives without any second thoughts? I guess no.It's all about knowing if you actually want to imbibe something from what is shown onscreen or just please your senses for those 3 hours and move on with your life. I guess the very same rule applies to the actors as well. Lets not forget acting is their livelihood,they need to make money just like everyone of us. It's important to differentiate the person onscreen and the actor in real life.The roles that they enact need not necessarily reflect their morals and ethics.
As far as what happened over BB, I guess it was completely uncalled for from an actress who has been doing a fair deal of work regarding women empowerment.
