Women Empowering lectures by actresses = BIG JOKE!

I think it's time these actresses thinks twice before giving any kind of lecture on women empowering. If you do stand by it then only lecture about it if you do not stand by it or you don't know what you feel about it then better say "no comments" when asked about it instead of giving lectures but not practicing what you preach ! better to be quiet than coming across like a hypocrite.
Some weeks back we had Deepika screaming from roof tops where she took a stand against being objectified with our her knowledge the next thing she does is objectify herself in a much worse way but that's totally fine because getting objectified in a film is fine as long as it's not done off screen, in other words "Pay me and objectify me but if you don't pay me then you can't objectify me" She needs to shut up about women empowering because be it off screen or onscreen both is wrong.

Now we have Parineeti who at several events have talked about women empowering and today she was on Bigg Boss and she agreed to play a prank on a contestant on the show who earlier this week was accused of misbehaving physically with a girl. Parineeti went and danced with the guy then she stopped dancing and accused him of misbehaving and it was a JOKE! SHAME ON PARINEETI and of course to bigg boss, salman and the rest of kill dill team who was part of this prank.

These are just recent examples we have several other examples also. But since Vogue's Women Empower campaign is going on where especially these two actresses have been very vocal about it I am pointing them out because they coming across like hypocrites.

It's pathetic when actresses make a joke of such a topic, not cool at all when it's a big problem in India.

I agree to you, Shame on Salman and Parineeti and everyone else involved in that prank. Women can not you and cry wolf like that on national TV in a country where there is a bad rape culture. I mean we're already heard men say shit like women deserved to be teased if they wear skirts/pants and then you have a famous, old enough woman going on TV and wrongly accusing someone of making her feel uncomfrotable and touching her inappropriate. It's taking power away from the whole women empowerment movement and idea.
And really detest Pari for this b/c she yelled at a journalist for being ignorant and called out the press for objectifying women and passing comments on her weight and body--well missy you just made fun of all those women that do raise their voice and object when men treat them with disrespect. She can't go around being a hypocrite and talking about empowering women b/c hving a voice comes with a responsibility and that is to not use it for wrong purposes.

BB, Salman and especially Pari need to apologize to Ali for sure and then the viewing audience. What a load of BS they just showcased in the anem of a prank.

I got to finally watch the whole episode, pari and ali know each other from before, ali is her cousins best friend. Ali said pari is like family to him
ealier in the week ali touched sonali's leg under a blanket and said he was joking, but he was warned by big boss not to do it again.
the producers asked pari to play a prank on one of the contestants, she picked ali coz he is like a brother to her
after they revealed the prank pari did say sorry, and ali started to sing and dance to lighten the mood.
upen did say it wasn't a funny joke.
basically pari played a joke on someone she knew based on something he did earlier in the week, obviously its a bad prank coz its a serious issue, I guess she knows him and knew he wouldn't get angry at her wen they revealed the prank.
Anyway hope these kinds of jokes r not repeated.
Pari does support womens rights and is very passionate about it, she has always spoke up for women, and I don't think she shud stop supporting women just coz of this prank

I absolutely disagree with you where you say
"Pay me and objectify me,but you can't if you don't pay me"

You are so wrong here
Everyone shld have the freedom to dress up how they want..and work where they want n do what they please with their life, doing any of that DO NOT mean that they don't have right to lecture n talk about the issue, how one dresses do not take their right to stand up for anything they believe,

Also dressing up the way I want or doing it for whatever reason
Don't give anyone the right to objectify me at all..I wld wear nothing but still fyt if you take my pic and objectify me.

How I dress don't take my rights away neither it gives others right over me is all I'm trying to say here.

P.S. Just like saying if a woman dresses up in short and the animal men can't control
It gives them the right to misbehave with her or rape her cause she invited it.

I haven't watch BB I can't comment on the that.

I dont think the OP is talking about dressing in a particular way. In HNY, we all know that the heroine plays a role of a doormat, is called "cheap", etc for the majority of the film and still she loves the guy who talks down on her, objectifies her. Now what message does that send?

True.
Not sure why she took up a demeaning role if she is so concerned about the objectification of women.

Yup its pathetic when actress talk abt women empowerment n yet be a part of movies like boom, mock their body part for publicity, be a part of such prank! Shame to all these actress! But i didnt get why salman was dragged n blamed for this act coz Pc is the one who comes wid that idea n choose ali since he's a fren of her n be a prt of that act! Its not like that salman forced them! N being a women if Pc is ready then why should other male actor have to object about it?? She should have denied it na! N even if u wnt to blame someone then blame creative team or maker as they're the one who comes wid that idea! Why finger out host?? Its his job! I dont get it why ppl expect social msg from the show like BB which is full of controversy! Ppl watch BB for entertainment! For social msg satyame jayate would be a better choice as they provide lot of msg through their show

I think faking harassment as a prank is in very poor taste. Victims are not taken seriously. Such pranks only make the problems worse.

Parineeti does seem passionate about women's issues and I am assuming that it is poor judgement on her part. We all have moments where we act without thinking through.

I don't think it is wrong for actresses to give women's empowerment lecture. They are major celebrities. Many have ardent followers in both genders. If they use their status to educate people about women's issue then it is a good thing for society. Even one person who pauses to think is a big difference. Why else would the UN recruit Emma Watson as their ambassador for HeForShe campaign. Actresses promoting such causes make a difference.

"Pay me and objectify me but if you don't pay me then you can't objectify me"

Lines like this make me sad. It is attitudes like this that give men the sanction to rape or abuse women whom they assume to be loose and free for all due to work that they do.

This is not about payment or objectification. It is about consent. It is about having control about what happens to you and your body.
