"So you returned?"
Aastha turned around. Niranjan came closer and Aastha shirked away in fear. Her hands holding her abdomen as If to keep the live inside her womb save.
"Yes I came back and I will stay. Even you can't separate me from Shlok anymore Father in Law." Aastha looked at him and tried to leave but he got hold of her wrist and turned her around by squeezing her arm painfully. She closed her eyes in pain but then decided not to look weak in front of him and her gaze met his.
"Leave me! Let go of my Hand you Monster!" Aastha screamed and he simply laughed at her plight. God I wish I could just kill her, he thought.
"Do you think you are smart? Or that my Son, My flesh and blood would chose you over me? Loves you more than he loves me, his godlike father? He loves me more than anyone else in this world he would die for me. Who are you to think that he would leave me for you? Would believe you over me? You can be replaced dearest Aastha and soon you will. I will outcast you from my house together with your baby." Niranjan grinned at her in anger. That girl would make him go crazy someday. She really believed Shlok would choose her over him. How nave, Niranjan thought.
"ONLY OVER MY DEAD BODY! YOU WON'T CAUSE HER ANY HARM"
Both Aastha and Niranjan turned around to see Anjali approaching them angrily.
"Aayi?" Aastha whispered as Anjali stepped closer and her eyes widened ins hock when she saw her mother in law push her father in law away to keep her, Aastha, save.
"Go to your room Aastha!" Anjali demanded looking at her Husband with disgust.
"Lekin Aayi..."
"Listen to me! Go to your room. Never less Shlok already called for you..."
"Are you sure?" Aastha asked looking at the hateful and dangerous expression of her Father in Law.
Anjali nodded lovingly and pushed Aastha softly away; encouraging her to leave.
When she left she turned yet again to her husband to break free from his clutches. She didn't want to feel like a bird living in a cage anymore. She wanted to be Free, to live and enjoy live and to be loved. But for that she needed to Stand up for herself.
"Anjali what do you think you are doing?" Niranjan came closer to slap her but she held his hand in midair.
"Henceforth I won't allow you to slap me anymore. I am your wife not your servant. Treat me with some damn respect or I swear to god I will send you to jail by myself. I am not afraid of you anymore. Is that the way to treat the mother of your children Sahib? Is that the way to treat your wife, who was by your side in this past 35 years? Why can't we be equal? In all this years I always supported you, helped you, stood by your side and how did you thank me? YOU SLAPPED ME, BEATED THE CRAP OUT OF ME!" She punched his chest , slapped him on his cheek and then looked at him,
She wiped away her tears and saw the surprised and shocked expression of her husband.
When did she become so brave? To Stand up against me, to even beat me? He thought.
"Listen Sahib...Please I just want your respect! I want my children to love me again. And if you are not willing to give me the respect I deserve I swear to god I won't stay quiet this time. I will expose you and I will let everyone know what kind of a sick man you are. Please...be the man I fell in love with, the man that carried me to our home when I couldn't walk. The man that took care of me while I was pregnant, the man that lied to his family just to see me for a few seconds. Where did he go? Why did he leave me? I want him back...but for that you have to change. Would you change our Live could be so beautiful. Let me warn you: If you don't change one day you will lose everyone and everything."
Niranjan was quiet, he couldn't say a word. He thought about her words, about her wishes and somehow deep down in his heart it hurt him to know that the woman he once cherished hated him. Wanted him to be alone...If he wouldn't change.
But why should he change? He was a man...He was superior to her...Wasn't he?
Anjali turned and left to sleep in the guest room. She didn't have the patience and power to sleep in the same room as him, she needed to breath and to get out of the cage he had put her in. She wanted to be free.
"Please God! Protect my family. Let Sahib see that his abusive nature will only cause him pain. Protect Aastha from his Wrath!" As she prayed Anjali knew that was just the beginning.

"Aastha where were you? What happened? You wanted to get some tea right? Then why are you looking so scared? "Shlok bombarded her with questions.
"Your Father...He threatened me...me and our baby. Then your mother...she came...asked me to go...I am scared..."Aastha was too scared to even talk properly. Shlok caressed her face and made her look at him. He could see the fear in her eyes and got angry at his father for having the guts to threaten his pregnant wife.
"What? I will kill that SOB right now. How dare he threaten you and my child? How dare he talk like that after I know the truth? I will show him his place. What did he exactly say to you or to Aayi?"
"He said he could easily replace me and would outcast me from the house with our baby. Shlok...He would harm our baby...I can't...let that happen...Please..."Aastha closed her eyes and trembled in fear. She couldn't stand any longer. Shlok immediately picked her up and laid her down on the bed. He gave her some Water to drink.
"I won't let anything happen to you or to our baby. I will protect you from all evil. No harm will meet you Aastha I promise with my Life that till my last breathe I will protect you."
He kissed her forehead and simply held her in his arms. Aastha believed him, each of his words. She knew how much he loved her and the baby and that he would never let anyone harm them. He was her Guardian Angel, her savior. She felt save with him and she kissed him to convey that message.
Some time you didn't need words to say what you say, a simple gesture could say that without a big fuss. For Aastha it was the passionate kiss she gave him.
They kissed each other softly but when she felt him changing the tenor of the kiss she pushed him away slightly. She wasn't comfortable anymore with physical intimacy being this far pregnant. But she was afraid of his reaction.
" Are you alright? I am sorry...Did...I offend you?" He asked in fear. Ever since that terrible night he was afraid their physical relationship would never be the same.
" No...It is just that I don't feel comfortable anymore having sex and being this far pregnant... But I would love it if you could hug me..." She smiled shyly at him.
Shlok smiled at her and nodded.
"I understand. Don't worry I love you and I don't have to sleep with you to prove you that."
Looking at his mature response and his calm face she realized with a thud that he became a lot more mature and calmer the past week. He had changed after their separation, he knew that his temper could cause major damage.
"Stopp looking at me and sleep." He ordered and lay down next to her. "It was a rough Night." He sighed and she put her head on his chest; feeling his steady heartbeat.
"A rough week actually."
Both laughed and drifted into a peaceful slumber.
