I think the length of an update depends on its scenes;) example for romance we as readers would love to have longs romantic scenes therefore leading to long updates ;) or if it's a exciting or even sad, what matters is the content and whether the story is interesting enough to encourage readers to be anxious to read ones story!
Generally, an interesting story has no limit I think;) once you make it interesting one will wish for a long update always :))
Basically hmmm 1000 ,2000 words more or less LOL I felt i exaggerated LOL it really depends on the writer themselves;) it's up to you all;) you write we read;)
I don't know if the forum itself has a limit for updates!!
