Pakhi's Journey with Love

If we hold on to relationships that are not meant to be, we can never attract new things into our life. We will forever be living in the past than moving forward into the future.

I find it a cruel irony that Pakhi who logically knows that she should move on, is lingering on to the past. I say cruel irony because Pakhi is a very sensitive woman; she is normally very thoughtful and respectful of the people around her. And yet, contrary to her inner nature she is being insensitive of everyone's feelings, including that of Ayaan and her inner conscience.

By denying Veer the rightful place of a husband she is insulting Veer and his friendship, denying Ayaan of a father, and turning a deaf ear to her conscience. Pakhi knew she could not look Veer in the eye and tell him her plans for karwa chauth day. So she silently slipped away while he was still asleep. Pakhi knew she it would be inappropriate to ask Ayaan to do the rituals for Anshuman, so she walked away alone without taking him.

As per Hindu customs neither Lavanya nor Pakhi can do these rituals, for they do not share the same ancestry as Anshuman. Lavanya and Pakhi after marriage (or re-marriage in the case of Pakhi) belong to different ancestral lineage. Only Ayaan can do these rituals, however Pakhi did not request Ayaan to accompany her.

Lavanya did not ask for Ayaan to be present at the ritual because her true intention is not to appease Anshuman's soul. Her intention behind doing the ritual is to snub Jiji by demonstrating that Pakhi belongs to her dead brother Anshuman, and not Jiji's brother Veer. And, that Pakhi does not belong to Jiji's family as Pakhi does not consider Veer to be her husband.

Lavanya is being true to her nature. She, her mother Anuja, and (late) brother Anshuman plot and plan to cruelly humiliate anyone who does not tolerate their haughtiness.

Pakhi and Anshuman are pawns that Lavanya is using to get at Jiji and (indirectly) Veer. In doing all this Lavanya is irrevocably hurting Pakhi and Ayaan. Lavanya is aware of the damage she is causing Pakhi and Ayaan but she does not care. If Pakhi is fool enough to fall for her trick so be it!!

Pakhi is intelligent but under the circumstances she is vulnerable. She is being forced to choose. In spite of her better instincts she is being drawn into Lavanya's cheap trick.

Logically Pakhi knows that Veer is a gem of a man and no matter what - Veer understands her.

Somewhere deep down Pakhi knows that Anshuman cannot hold a candle to Veer. She has lived with both Anshuman and Veer and she knows the difference between the two. I have listed below those that I have noted.

Pakhi-Anshuman Relationship

Pakhi-Veer Relationship

Anshuman constantly made demands on Pakhi and set impossible deadlines.

Veer makes no demands on Pakhi.

Anshuman made life difficult for Pakhi - it was difficult for him to understand why she smiled in the midst of difficulties.

Veer tries to put a smile on Pakhi's face and bring joy in her life.

Anshuman was jealous at the mention of Rohit, Pakhi's childhood friend.

Veer has no problems with Pakhi living in the past.

Anshuman gave Pakhi so much pain that he drove her away from him

Their togetherness is helping Pakhi forget her pain and move ahead

Anshuman wanted Pakhi to change, example he wanted her to wear skimpy clothes. He was trying to change her to fit his expectations rather accepting her for who she is and enabling her to grow.

Veer does not expect Pakhi to change for him. He is enabling her to grow as an individual

Pakhi worked at changing Anshuman so that he fit her expectations. She too could not accept him as he was.

Pakhi does not expect Veer to change for her. She is enabling him to grow as an individual

Pakhi kept justifying Anshuman's actions to herself. By this I mean, she was uncomfortable with Anshuman's actions, and she was explaining away (or justify to herself) the discomfort.

Pakhi and Veer share a mutually comfortable relationship and are very honest to each other and respectful of the other.

Anshuman hurt Pakhi verbally and emotionally

Veer treats Pakhi respectfully anytime he raises his voice (even in frustration at himself) he immediately apologizes

Anshuman put little effort in the relationship

Veer and Pakhi are putting equal effort in the relationship

Pakhi's and Anshuman's fundamental values and beliefs were different

Veer and Pakhi share the same fundamental values and beliefs

I totally agree with you on this Anonee.
Paakhi is going against her inner nature the very core of her being, sleflessness!!!.
Before any one jumps down my throat...No this has nothing to do with Anshuman and Paakhi's relationship. This is about allowing her to heal from her hurt , pain loss and broken heart and start living life fully again!
Paakhi found a partner as so beautifully pointed out in the table , in a person who is as selfless as she is and has no expectations from her, not even love yet dispite it all he still managed to fall in love with her and right now is trying to figure out how to protect er from the embarrassing situation she is finding her self in with his family's expectations from her.
If she did sit to think about it she would see that Veer is indeed some one she is lucky to have in her life and that she should give him a chance. But maybe is is afraid of looking at it to closely , because in her head it would mean she is being unfaithful.

Very well points both you ladies.

I think that the one thing about Veer that cannot be denied is he has no expectations of Pakhii - he does not expect her to reciprocate his feelings or accept him as anything other than a friend.

He is sensitive so he understands the pain he is going to cause his Jiji (Mother really) when he tells her that his marriage is in name only. Not simply because of desire for an heir to carry on the family and such but just on the most basic level - no parent wants to hear that their child is in a loveless relationship that is in name only especially since that child has been unwilling to marry anyone for so long. But he is willing to do so that Pakhi does not have to deal with the awkwardness that is arising because of his family. He could easily have said to her "they are only here for a short while lets just pretend" but he wants to end the issue once and for all.

Unfortunately his 2 attempts failed but in the final analysis in Pakhi's eyes they will count for nothing. All she will deduce is that he did not tell his family because he loves her and believes she will accept him in the end.

Nice take and such a rightly penned down contrast between Anshuman..Pakhi relationship and Veer..Pakhi one..

Like we say let go of your past so that God can open the door of your future..

God has somehow already opened that door for Pakhi but she is not seeing it for now..No doubt Veer is Pakhi's future she agrees to it or not..Like i mentioned she is holding up to that my mindset and to top it lavanya is playing her game in making her feel guilty conscience.

Lavanya is always disrespectful towards her husband and dont give a damn about his opinion..Girish being Pakhi's confident has already enlighten her about this second chance life is giving her..

In this showdown Pakhi will end up hurting Veer and his family..Knowing Pakhi also she will give a thought about the situation and may take the right decision.its time Pakhi realises letting go of the past does not mean its being unfaithful to Anshuman..his memories will always be cherished..Letting go of the past something better comes along and Veer is the one ... Pakhi is fortunate and she just have to grab this second chance...

Hope that dream of Veer comes true ... Pakhi herself comes forward and tells Veer she is ready to give a chance to their relationship ...

Thank you Payal

I hope Ayaan and Rhea help Girish in making Pakhi see the truth! 😉

Pakhi is going to face something very different or i say very difficult in her life...so this is not easy for her to accept it ..

in new phase of her life she has to face many unexpected situations.. she has always been very confident and selfless women who first think about others then herself.. and can differentiate between right and wrong ..and if something is wrong .. how to improve it..but in this situation .. she is behaving like helpless ... or she is being denial mode ..she doesn't want to think that she can love to some body else too..when Anshuman is no more ..this is not a sin or a crime but she doesn't want.. i think she want to prove herself more then others that she still love or faithful to Anshuman.. even though some where her subconscious know that her attachment with anshuman is getting fed or dim..but her ego not let her accept it.. her ego push her that how is it possible.. ? she got to veer without any effort..by destiny but she got to Anshu by long effort...even she "Earn" his love... and behind this earning, there is a lot of patience, dedication, trust and hope that one day she will find her prince charming back ..and when she found this.. destiny played a cruel role ..and suddenly everything disappeared .. so now she can't leave it so easily ... if she does her long effort means zero ... her whole life has been awaiting of Anshuman... so. now if she accept to Veer ..that will prove to her whatever she did in the past it was not as worthy as she assumed... 😉

she knew well that in KC occasion veer's family will demand to her to fulfill rituals and she also know that if she tell to veer about all this .. he might handle it some decent way ..and if its happens she will not feel good in front of him because she know he is a decent guy .. he always support her , always do what she prefer and never demand any thing to her in return.. she know she is going to hurt him.. this will make a big scene.. 😕 some how..she want to search a minus point about him...to justify her behavior or may be if Lav not asked her about his intention ..she could have told him... but now she went without letting him know...so big scene is compulsory ...😆

let see when she realize that she is going to loose this betel... 😳
