The article makes it seem like a calibre vs inexperience thing... but I think the issue isnt that.. Deepika is pretty bad in any sort of "panel discussions" ... She was out of place even in that Masand's RT (with Vidya , Nimrat, Kangana) and had some vague general responses for Anupama's questions in that TFR discussion with KJo , Tisca ..
Debate, extempore etc... isnt her thing..
Someone like Kalki would have really been a better option... and I am not saying bcuz she does artsy movies and hence automatically qualifies or something..

She is more spontaneous, speaks better, and exposed to more work cultures than just mainstream bollywood..
Though she is nowhere close to Denevue in terms of her resume , I feel she would have been capable enough to think quickly on her feet and hold the conversation together even if some topic of discussion had caught her off guard ..

Another much ado about nothing article that is very off base just to paint Bollywood celebs in a negative light. Deepika along with the other Bollywood contingent gave their time and money to help the MFF take place this year. If it was not for those big Bollywood stars in the industry the festival would not have even taken place at all this year. So they should all be applauded for aiding the festival in it's time of need.

I think Deepika held her own and did a good job at the panel discussion with Catherine. Both Deepika and Catherine gave their own personal perspectives of their profession and their experiences as actresses which is what they were asked to do and it was what the panel discussion pertained of. Nothing more and nothing less. It was in the vein of something like The Actor's Studio. I'm glad that Deepika and the other Bollywood celebs supported a great cause like the MFF this year.

Why on earth would they pick Deepika for this?

She is strictly an average actress with very little knowledge about the art of filmmaking...nor does she have much passion for this. Plus, she is not articulate...like 90% of her contemporaries.
They should have picked someone like Vidya, Tabu, Irrfan, Nawaz, Konkona, Kalki who have the knowledg, passion, abd skills.

^ You mean she invited herself to this to further her image as a 'thinking actor'?
