Imran Khan gets booed at Mumbai Film Festival

It was a welcome Imran Khan may not have imagined. At the ongoing Mumbai Film Festival, actor Imran Khan was booed by the audience when he walked up the stage to present Two Days, One Night by the Dardennes brothers at Chandan Cinema.

"Start the film!" chanted the crowd. A guy screamed Khan, "What are you doing here?" To which Khan politely replied, "I'm not sure what I'm doing here."

Khan was apparently coaxed into presenting a film he didn't know much about.

As much as the organisers have tried to give the film fest Bollywood touch, the crowd there doesn't seem impressed. The artsy and intellectual crowd clearly did not see any space for mainstream cinema there.

Another Bollywood actor Varun Dhwan was suposed to present Richard Linklater's Boyhood, but he was now where to be seen. Perhaps, Varun took the cue from Imran's experience chose to stay away. Boyhood was screened without anyone presenting it.

Though I feel bad for Imran (esp because he looks so good there and he is humble and laid back off screen), the organizers had it coming. This must be one of Anupama Chopra's ideas. She prolly said something like - "come to the film festival or else get bad reviews from me".

Aww poor guy. This seems like a hastily put show. I guess nobody prepared Imran about the movie. I doubt anybody will show up the rest of the days. I read they had some really boring movies anyway.

Imran along with the other Bollywood celebs are the ones who have been giving their time and money to the MFF. It is because of them that the festival even happened this year. So there was absolutely nothing wrong with Imran showing up to introduce a film at the festival. I'm sorry but the audience was very rude, crude, and out of order in this situation. I guess it is too much to ask for people to show some decorum and good manners these days.
