Why contestants sing only new songs?

hi guys

Not only in saregamapa but mostly in the all music talents shows contestants sing mostly new songs( except some special episodes when the show is dedicate to someone) . Why dont they sing old songs , those r evergreen.even in the new songs contestants song choice is so bad😕 instead of that why dont they sing old songs?

Are they afraid of being compared with Rafi, Kishore,Lata etc?😕

Well, in ASVOI they r having two rounds each week for elimination, one based on old songs and another based on new..They can do a similar thing in SRGMP so that the actual talent of the participant shows..but seeing the standards of the female contestants, they can never do justice to the old songs n why spoil those beautiful ones..already some r spoiling the new songs as well.

yes i was wondering this in the first agnipariksha episode. everyone sang very recent songs. i thought maybe this was the theme or something but it was not mentioned so I don't know 😕

coz today's generation likes to listen latest songs and if these contestents wants vote from people, they would have to choose songs which today's generations likes to hear becoz most of the youth people are only voting.

Don't worry. This week you will listen to some old evergreen songs in SRGMP too.

Particularly, Rafi songs have been performed the least no of times. Without rafi songs i feel something is lacking and singing standard will not be considered that high!

HR can better answer this question. He made such a fuss out of it. 😡 With so much melody, old compositions are our greatest teachers, and yet noise-emiting people like HR makes uncharitable remarks against them. 😡
