The magic of love and romance is an ongoing saga in Indian Cinema. From the times of black and white movies to today's futuristic romantic movies, we've all had those special on screen couples that had such amazing chemistry that it was hard to believe they weren't in love when the camera was off. Some of those couples actually did turn their on screen chemistry into real life love stories, however there are those that didn't, and every fan of theirs wished they had.

5. Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao
These two youngsters began their careers together and, at once, audiences knew that this was one pairing to be cherished. And makers had to agree! That would be the reason why after Ishq Vishk, they were cast together in Shikhar, Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi & Vivah, all in a time span of a few years. With Sooraj Barajatya's Vivah, they certainly turned into a golden couple. Chemistry oozes from their expressions and flows through their dialogues, and all this is so vivid, without the inclusion of steamy scenes or on screen kiss(both of which audiences wouldn't mind seeing). However one finds it hard to believe these two are barely friends off screen. Both travel on their separate paths when the camera is switched off. And of course one knows that Shahid is in a long time and committed relationship with Kareena Kapoor, however one can't help wishing that there was more between Amrita and Shahid than just fantastic on screen chemistry!
4. Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta
Unlike Shahid and Amrita, these two have done much more on screen to make fans wish for a real life love story between them. Both, with an ever bubbly personality and fantastic amounts of talent, started setting the screen on fire a very long time back in Kya Kehna when Preity was just a newcomer and Saif was yet to be discovered as a capable solo hero. After that, came Karan Johar's Kal Ho Na Ho, which didn't exactly have them setting the screen on fire, but certainly made audiences everywhere sigh and say "aww". Siddharth Anand and YRF then dared to take this couple's chemistry to the next level with the controversial story line of Salaam Namaste. It was then the everyone woke up to the on screen magic of Saif and Preity. Their real life friendship helped encouraging fans to keep dreaming for their love story to continue off screen. And even the media went on to write about their supposed affair. However, no such luck for the fans of this jodi. Preity is still steady as a rock in a long time relationship with Ness Wadia and Saif Ali Khan travels the paths alone currently, after his tragic break-up with Rosa.
3. Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai
All it took was one movie and a few tunes to get fans across the globe wishing that Hrithik was single again! She's the most beautiful woman in the world and he's the heartthrob of millions. Could this jodi be any more perfect! Dhoom is known to set trends with music, fashion, film making, and now jodis. After their sizzling criminal adventure in Dhoom 2, Ash and Duggu would have found it hard to ignore that fans everywhere were absolutely psyched to see them together! The amazing picturization of Dhoom Again, and the much talked about on screen kiss, only added to the "We Love Ash-tik" bandwagon's hype. However, this probably has to be the most outrageous dream by fans. Hrithik is a happily married lad and now with a young son, and of course Ash is the treasured daughter-in-law of the Bachchan household. Truly a tragedy for all the well wishers of this jodi, however all is not at loss. Fans will soon get to see their very own "Ash-Tik" in Ashotosh Gowaritikar's Jodha Akbar.

If an absolute celebrity fanatic and movie buff says that they've never heard of the term "Ranishek," then they can stop calling themselves a celebrity fanatic and movie buff in that very instant!! Rumors, family friendships and of course the sizzling on screen chemistry of Rani and Abhishek had fans praying everywhere for a wedding announcement! Newspapers and filmi magazines even took the liberty of writing that both were secretly engaged to each other. But at the end of the day, no such truth was unveiled. Even though both had seemed to enjoy each other's company more than any other co-stars. The success of Yuva and Bunty Aur Babli just added to saga. Bunty and Babli became their nicknames everywhere and the romantic lines from the movie became more popular than imagined. Amitabh Bachchan constantly praising Rani in the media and Jaya Bachchan doing much the same, were what ignited even more rumors of a possible wedding. However, to every fans dismay, Ash was the one who walked away with Abhi at the end of the day.
