The importance of being the 1st II

i was just wondering....that 1st indian idol will always be special...

reason when the 1st II was on...there was a huge craze (i'm talking abt India, not IF 😳) i mean the only think ppl discussed in college, office was II...😆 it was eveywhere in newspapers , tv!

then II 2 came...and there was no craze... the reason was hardly a month back they had FG...and then II2...it became too much for the viewers...i remember all my family, frnds voted like crazy in II...but no one cared much in II2....my mom doesnt even know who II 2 was 😆 but she was so much into II1....

now its the same thing again....II 3 is good...but the craze is nowhere near II1...this is probably all because II1 was the first reality show...it was new for the Indian audience...but now ppl have got used to it....

abhijeet was a judge in one of the piano rounds in II 2...now hez again here in II 3 rubaroo... so sony also gives more importance to II 1...😕

as anu malik said in II 2...when abhijeet came (it was not a piano/gala..it was a epi before the galas started) he said...that no matter what 1 st will always be 1st...

and thats actually true...Whenever ppl will talk abt II...they will remember Abhijeet sawant...no offence to sandeep fans but here in India ...so many dont even know who won II2...

whatever i have said is all what i have observed here... 😳 no offence to anyone...

oh another thing...when abhijeet won...it was on the first page of Indian newspapers...when sandeep won..it was nowhere maybe in the supplements...but not in the main paper...and now same with II3...i dont see any news abt these contestants in the leading newspapers...

we didnt get II1...no1 knew about it here...

but styl wen abhijeet won...his name was sooo popular all over the world...it was all over the news here also...and thas the first time we heard of him...even tho we had never seen II1, or even knew of such a reality show in india...we got to know of it becuz of the name "abhijeet sawant"...

wen abhijeet became idol...he got sooo popular there was a hugeee craze for him here...even i became his hugeee fan just watching his album launch...

hehe.....ppl say indian idol made abhijeet sawant popular.....but for us here.....it was actually abhijeet sawant that made the show popular...

den wen II2 started...it did air here (unlike ii1)...but styl 2dai...if u ask ppl about sandeep acharya...they'd be like, sorry who??? 😕

i cant comment much as i did'nt watch II1 but i believe the contestants r getting better with each season . and i believe II1 was more popular b'coz sony did not manipulate the show in any way every thing was natural and looked real not much controversies, the eliminations were all correct and on time . II2 was controvertial , but it had the best contestants - amey ,karunya, meenal but sandeep got it and therefore he cud not get the recognition that abhijeet got. the same is with II3 so many controversies ,drama, . everything is forced into it which II does not need. hope nobody is offended in any way

Its sad that in India only people remembers Idol 1 - But if you see American Idol - its still so popular even after so many years - I think in India so many shows of the same format has started and that has diluted the whole euphoria about these reality shows and even the quality of singers also matters - along with the puplicity - and media do play a big role - but with so many singining contest in almost every channel , even Media is not interested

I totally agree with you on this... II 1 will always be remembered because it was the FIRST reality show... It gained huge popularity. I remember me and my family members used to be damn CRAZY during those II days... It was a different feeling... somehow.

We all used to sit together in our spare time and discuss... what? Indian Idol1! 😳 😆

I remember in my school also... we used to pass chits to one another - me nd ma frens - predicting who's gonna be out next?! 😳 😆 and how contestants performed last night :p...

And... the last epi! GOD!!!! It was a memorable day!!!! 😃 . We all were waiting anxiously for the show!!!! I remember I was going here and there in my HOME asking ma brothers, mom nd dad... who they expect to be the Indian Idol.

All wanted Abhijeet to win! Me too!😳. We all even party-ed after Abhijeet won!!!🤣 In short, there was more Hangama/hype/fame in the first II!

In Indian Idol2... we had LOST our interest . We were then used-to of the show. We wanted Karunya to win and Sandeep won!:( It was heart-breaking! and completely 'false' decision made by the audience- if you ask me.

Then came II3 :D... I got attracted to this show once again but... youuu know there's still something missing... that feeling and all... which was during the II 1 days!😳...
This time we have BETTER and MORE talent, I guess. and that's why I 'LOVE' this show (3). I won't say I am not addicted to it. I AM!!!

But First will always remain the First! 😃 Ab chahey show ki baat ho ya winner ki :P...

I think it has to do with Abhijeet's voice and personality. Due to these 2 factors, he made everyone like him. Last year, I wanted Karunya to win as I thought he was the only guy who could sing amazingly and perform as well, but it didn't happen. This year hopefully the most deserving contestant with a great voice and stage presence win, and not just someone who can perform or looks cute.

The first always causes a craze. I didn't watch II1 but I know Abhijeet's name. I guess someone who didn't watch II2 won't know Sandeep's name. There were many other competitions at the same time, so the novelty factor wore off.

But the other important factor was that the first was much less controversial. Sony encouraged all kinds of drama in the second one for TRPs-- we had good singers being eliminated, judges staging walk-outs, and in the end, a non-entity being crowned over others. No offense to Sandeep fans. But compare him to Amey, Karunya, Meenal, even Antara and Monali. If any of these had become the idol, public interest might have sustained. People waited to buy Abhijeet's album, I don't even know if Sandeep's album has come out or not. Instead people ask if Amey has a new album, or what is Meenal doing these days. Sony also may have realized this, so they are keeping Sandeep very low profile.

I hoped they have learnt from their mistake last time, but looks like this time they are adding even more drama. 🤢 So don't be surprised if another non-entity gets crowned this time.
