Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Co danced for a pre-wedding party at Kamala Mills

Sweet Nothings: Shahid Kapur and Kareena Kapoor

Bollywood stars keen on earning quick bucks often resort to performing at private functions for businessmen and politicians.

The latest to groove at a private gathering are Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapur, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta and Koena Mitra, who performed for a crowd of 5,000 wedding guests at Kamala Mills Compound (Lower Parel).

The occasion was the pre-wedding celebrations of Rishabh Gowani (son of Kamala Mills owner Ramesh Gowani). Of course, the media wasn't invited.

Star-studded affair

On Friday (June 29), a special, air-conditioned dome had been erected to accomodate the invitees, including several businessmen and bureaucrats.

The event was co-ordinated, scripted, directed and edited by Bunty Walia's G S Entertainment, and hosted by Sajid Khan. The performances began at 9.30 pm and went on till 12.30 am.

Salman performed with a troupe that posed as baaratis. Says an eye-witness, "The crowd went mad when Salman came out of his car. When he took to the stage and danced, the whistles and cat-calls had to be heard to be believed!"

But it was Khiladi Akshay Kumar who stole the show when he made an entry atop a horse. As part of the show Akshay and Priyanka Chopra danced together.

"Akshay and Priyanka did not hold hands or come too close. They danced very professionally. Lara Dutta and Priyanka looked super," says our source.

The source also has an explanation for why Sallu danced with a cap on the entire time. He says, "His hair has still not grown well after his latest hair-weaving, so that's why he donned the cap."

Making it special

Ramesh Gowani made sure that his son's pre-wedding celebration was special. "It was the biggest Bollywood night for a private wedding I've ever seen.

The stars were paid a high price. They've got what they usually charge for performing at awards functions," the source adds.

See My Moves: Lara Dutta

Watch My Step: Koena Mitra

How much they usually charge for award functions:

Salman Khan: Rs 40 lakh

Akshay Kumar: Rs 40 lakh

Priyanka Chopra: Rs 25 lakh

Lara Dutta: Rs 20 lakh

Koena Mitra: Rs 5 lakh
