Great post Ramya. Thanks for creating this thread.

Where do I begin, I hated Madras when I first came here after I got married May 1992 (at the time I was living in Bangalore) MY main beef was with the weather and the humidity. could not wait to get away from this place (my hubby worked abroad). So tolerated the heat and humidity and visited only during hols and split it betn bangalore and chennai.

forward to 2006 - moved here for good after a long stint overseas and now I AM TOTALLY IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE. USED TO THE HEAT, the people, the MALLIPOO, THE FILTER KAAPI, MARINA BEACH, THE KUTCHERIS, MYLAI MADISAARU MAMIS, THE KALYANAMS, Pothys, Palam silks, Rangachari, can go on and on...

A great place to raise my daughter, I was glad we did not relocate to Bangalore even though my folks are still there. A perfect mix of the old with the new, Chennai city rocks.

Wow what a beautiful thread ...⭐️
I did not know all this trivia about Chennai.
I have never lived in Chennai but would visit the place once in a while with parents and it was always a great feeling as if I am going home, may be because the language spoken at home could be heard every where around me.
Now I visit the place officially very often, but the feeling has still not changed. I feel it is a special treat every time I am going to Chennai. 😃

Chanceless Chennai :).. Mind boggling Madras...

Was born and brought up in Madas till graduation...

Many nice memories... My inlaws are in Madras...My daughter loves the beach...

Was born in Isabella hospital out there.. Its a structure that has stood the times literally :)

The time that I was there, Spencers was the only place.. The british council Library was a fav hotspot along with the higginbothams there...Cycling to college and back... and the ever youthful T.Nagar...pondy bazaar...just the name brings many images and smells :)
