India's first city completes 375 glorious years..

A City deserves to celebrate its birthday.. And Madras, that is Chennai certainly deserves it...

The founding day of Madras is considered to be August 22, 1639.. It was on that day, in that year, that a silver of land, where Fort.St.George stands today, was transacted by the East India Company. The deal was struck by Francis Day, his 'dubash' Beri Thimmappa, and their superior Anfrew Cogan, with the local Nayak rules. It is believed that this deal was made on August 22, 1639.

Here some of us are from Chennai, who love our very own Madras (me one among them) Others who are across the world also have sweet memories with Namma Chennai...

Share your favourite Chennai moment and your connect with Chennai City..

Even if you are not connected in any way, get to know the interesting FACTS that we share here... Do Enjoy friends...

No restrictions here... Share your...
  • - thoughts about the city
  • - connect with the city
  • - memories
  • - pictures
etc etc etc...

India's oldest mall is dying 😔 the MUNNODI of all new malls.., viz, Chennai City Center, Express Avenue, Abirami Mega Mall, Ampa Skywalk, Ramee Mall... etc etc...

What did not change in a 100 years has changed in just 10 years. Today Spencer Plaza, even though still an important landmark on Mount Road, has almost fallen
off the mall-map of Chennai.

Me :
A Chennaite, have visited Spencers just thrice I think.. during those days in my childhood, this is the place for Window shopping... (as it's a place for rich people... with costly goods).. another reason is., as a kid I'd like to use the escalator there.. 😉
