Mishal began his career with commercial ads for companies like Pizza Hut, Cadbury Perk Popper and Air India
He then bagged the role of Kush in MTV's Pyar Vyar and All That which was a short story of four friends and their journey through life's challenges.
Mishal then bagged a lead role of Akash in Anurag Basu's Love story. Akash is an introvert who didn't believe in love or relationships, labelling love and marriage as a waste of time until he meets Shruti and falls in love with her. The show also focusses on Akash's complicated relationship with his father, an ex police officer.
Mishal's next and most successful and popular role was in Colors Laagi Tujhse Lagan as Dutta Sriram Patil- a don with a golden heart. This was a unique show and love story between Dutta and Nakusha, two lost souls who find peace and happiness when they find a true companion in one another. It is a journey of letting go of the past, accepting one's own imperfections and gracing the second chances life gives in the form of true love.
Mishal then experimented in reality shows by hosting the second season of Star One's Mano Ya No Mano. He described this experience as "fantastic."
Mishal along with his Laagi tujhse lagan co-star, Mahi Vij and the leads in Colors Na Aana Is Desh Meri Laado, Natasha Sharman and Aditya Redij participated in NDTV's Big Money and won 5 Lakhs for Charity
Mishal also took part in NDTV's Raaz Pichle Janam Ka Season 2 where he identified his fear of heights was linked to his past life.
On 4th August 2012, Mishal announced his first Bollywood Movie, Budget Trip, which is yet to release in India.
In 2014, Mishal returned to small screen in Sony TV's new show Encounter where he played the role of a cop. Mishal stated he found this role interesting as it enabled him to play a character who is tough yet soft hearted. He also described this role as a learning experience stating he was able to understand the stress the Indian Police experience on a daily basis on their jobs.
Along side his acting career, Mishal is the co-owner of a company named Party Hard Drivers which was launched in December 2007. The aim of this company is to take responsibility of providing safe and reliable chauffeurs for partygoers who have a few drinks at parties and are not fit to drive. Being the first of its kind, this company has done extremely well and had also the honour of driving Hollywood superstar, Tom Cruise around Mumbai on his visit to India.
