Q - Reason for working in Haider ?
SK - Initially I was in talks with Vishal Ji for working in Kaminey sequel. Then one day he told me about Haider. This is also based on a Shakespeare play. Right now I can only say that my performance in this will be completely different. This is also one reason why through this I entered into film production.
Q - Then you must've had an affair with the heroine of Haider, Shraddha Kapoor ?
SK - Hey, what's the reason of suddenly linking my name with Shraddha ? Whatever affair of mine happens with my heroine is only onscreen.
Q - But you have an affair with every heroine of yours ?
SK - Yes you are right, but I have not been able to understand till today who spreads this kind of gossip. I'm saying the truth this time you won't hear any gossip about me and Shraddha.
Q - This means your affair with Priyanka was also gossip ?
SK - Of course yes, Priyanka and I were only good friends and will remain so. Infact if everything goes well we will sign a new film together.
Q - And what will you say about your affair with Sonakshi ?
SK - Sona is also a good friend of mine. I will also do a new film with Sona soon, but I have a question for you, you are not asking any other questions means you will make the tag line of this interview - Shahid Kapoor and his love life...
Q - You have not forgotten your old friends and your struggle till now ?
SK - How can this be. This is not possible. Those days I had an old second
hand Maruti 800. I used to go for audition with friends in this only. I did not have money everytime to fill petrol in the car so friends used to share and get petrol filled. Those days when I used to go to Juhu Chowpatti I used to stop my car for 5 minutes. Big posters of films were usually pasted there and I would often tell my friends that one day my poster will also be seen here.
Q - But it took a lot of time for your struggle to end ?
SK - You are right. What struggle is, I can can describe this very well. I used to go for audition everyday and return home with a disappointed face. Then many times it used to feel that my dream of becoming an actor would never be fulfilled in this birth.
Q - Were you also thinking of doing something else during those days ?
SK - Yes I was beginning to think like this but suddenly one day fortune smiled on me. One of my friends was going for an audition for a soft drink ad. That day it was raining a lot. He could not get an auto. He asked me to drop him in my car. I kept the condition that he should get the petrol filled. He agreed to this. I went to drop him and there the ad director on seeing me told me to hold a glass and say a dialogue. I couldn't understand anything and said the dialogue somehow. Next day we got to know that instead of my friend, I had been selected for the ad. I had shared the screen with Shah Rukh in my first ad. After this I slowly started getting work, but no friend of mine would take me for an audition with them.
Q - We've talked a lot about your friends, you talk about very less about your favourite actors ?
SK - They are not many. First I'll mention my dad Pankaj Kapur. I'm not saying this because he's my dad , there are very few powerful performers like him in our country. Besides this I'm a big fan of Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan.
Q - Okay you are 34 now, what have you thought about marriage ?
SK - You have again returned to your old track. You are talking like my mother-father. They also ask once everyday that when I'm getting married. Presently I'm liking being single, but I'll get married one day but not with a heroine. Before this I've seen how it is being in love with a heroine. I could not adjust much. Film heroines are too filmy and artificial.
