Thanks a lot for the response on the first chapter. Means a lot to me. 😊
Part two
Rudra couldn't think straight. How could Myrah have any feelings for him? He was Paro's... only. He closed his eyes and remembered him putting on the mangalsutra for Paro. The words he recited to Paro, "Main tu hamesha"(You, me forever) echoed in his mind. Those words held so much importance to him, those three words binded their relationship forever. She was not physically there but she resided in his heart. He loved her unconditionally.
He touched Paro's photo frame on the wall, "I love you so much, I miss you Paro."
Rudra's trance was broken when he heard his son's voice, "Paaapa... Paaapa"
Rudra turned and smiled seeing his son. Whenever he missed Paro, the next moment he'd find his son running to him, his son would shower him with Paro's love alongside his own. Paro made sure her Rudra was never alone, she was there with him, in the form of their son Dhruv. "Thank you Paro" he whispered.
He lifted Dhruv into his arms, "Kya hua beta?" (What happened son?)
Dhruv wrapped his hand around Rudra's neck, "Papa sing me mummy's lori (lullaby.)"
Dhruv continued, "Please papa... I'm missing her a lot."
Rudra nodded and walked over to the bed with Dhruv. Rudra relaxed against the headboard of the bed and Dhruv rested his head on Rudra's chest. Rudra patted Dhruv's hair and remembered the first time he sang for his son, the day Paro had left him.
He remembered when he had called to tell Paro about Koyal's birth, she had jokingly told him Dhruv was waiting for his papa to sing him a lori when he returned. Little did Paro and he know that he would have to do just that. He was shattered, he was empty without his Paro, he was barely holding himself together. Rudra's only abode was his mother's lap, a mother's lap that his own son would never get to lay on. But as soon as he saw his crying son, he knew that he could not let his Paro down. She was counting on him to fulfil every promise; he would take care of his son and be a good papa.
Rudra felt a tug on his sleeve, "Papa where are you lost, sing for me."
Rudra smiled and kissed Dhruv's forehead, "Okay mummy ka tinku." Dhruv smiled widely and Rudra began singing.
Heli mhari sun le raam...
Heli mhari sun le raam ji...
Listen to my plea, Lord Ram...
Jyot Jala De, Moh Mitaa De,
Ignite the pious light of yours, Eradicate any temptation of worldly means within me...
Kar kaya nihaal ji
Fulfill my existence...
Heli sun le ram ji...
Listen to my plea, Lord Ram...
Rangrasiya tu, man basiya tu
You are the Rangrasiya, you are the one that resides in my heart...
Simru thaaro naam ji
It is only your name that I remember and recall...
Heli mhari sun le raam...
Heli mhari sun le raam ji...
Listen to my plea, Lord Ram...
A tear rolled down Rudra's cheek, he looked down at his sleeping son and kissed his forehead. He laid Dhruv properly on the bed and went towards his wardrobe to get his track pants and t shirt to sleep in.
Before he went into the bathroom, his phone rang. It was a strange number. He picked it up on one go.
Rudra spoke, "Ranawat speaking."
The voice on the other end of the line spoke, "This is the Amool Hotel, do you know Myrah Mehra?"
Rudra narrowed his eyes, "Yes I do."
Immediately after he confirmed he knew her, the person said, "Ma'am fainted in the parking lot. She's still unconscious; you were the first person on her contact list. So..."
Before the person could continue Rudra said, "I'm coming."
